“A vacation to remember”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2011

We visited Fodele Beach for two weeks in mid-June 2010. Traveling with two small children and being pregnant with the third we read a lot of reviews before booking our vacation. We trusted the recommendation of a good friend who recently had been there but read also the negative ones at Trip advisor. Staircases and being far from the pool/beach area could indeed be a problem for us.

Our stay became a very nice vacation. Six months after the vacation, we still speak daily about it. Fodele Beach is a big resort. There are several areas with pool and rooms. We had one of the family rooms/suits (with two rooms) close to the beach.
Here there was also a smaller pool area. In the mornings we could enjoy the pool and in the afternoons, the beach was easily reachable. It is a sand beach that we liked very much. Only problem in high season is that some people block the seats with towels. It is written actually that it is forbidden but many people do not follow that. At least there are more seats so you can go and get more seats.

The resort is built on a hill so some rooms are indeed far away from the beach. But if you are on top of the hill, than you are very close to the water park. If you children are older, this could be what you prefer. Besides the distance to the dining rooms and beach, the area looks very charming with lemon trees and pergolas. Some might prefer that.

There is a train that goes up and down the hill. When we were there, the train was not running all the time, but when you wanted to go up to the water park, you could ask for a ride at the reception. Sometimes, you had to wait 5-10 minutes but we thought that is acceptable. I was 7 months of pregnant, but I believe that was not a special treatment to us. We were not the only ones waiting for the ride.

To access the dining rooms, you have to climb some stairs if you are having the rooms close to the beach. We thought it was good for us with all the available food and deserts. I thing if you come from the other direction, from the reception, there is an elevator.

The food is very good. With children, we preferred the open buffet. Good variation, a lot of fruit and vegetables, meat, pasta. What ever you want you will find it here. Risk to overeat is high but it is also possible to follow Mediterranean Diet with all great Greek food and water melon. In the hotel there are also two restaurants with reservation and table service. We tried it once. It was good but we thought the food in the buffet was as good and less stress so we didn’t even try the second one.

The animation program for children is very good. Every evening you can attend the “child disco”. The songs are in Italian, German and English. The animators are very good and very friendly. Whole day long, there are activities for children. They even eat together.

We really enjoyed staying there, as mention this was one of the best vacation we had together with children.

If you want to go for sight seeing, you should rent a car. There is no public transportation from the hotel to other cities or villages.

“5 Star ...................... probably 3!”

My wife and I stayed at the Fodele Beach Hotel the 14th September for one week. On arrival the foyer of the hotel gave it that 5 Star look, but when we entered our room it was obvious that it wasn't. The bathroom never looked clean, even though it was cleaned every day and the towels were all thread bare and rough. The drawers and cupboards in the bedroom didn't fit correctly. The staff were friendly and helpful especially the bar staff in the main bar. Overall I would say that the whole of the accommodation of the hotel looked 'tired' and could do with a serious amount of tender loving care.

“Nice place”

We spend very nice week in this hotel at ed of July/beg Aug. Maybe 5 stars is little bit too much, but our travel agency sells this hotel with 4 stars and it was 4 star hotel. Only bad things we found, was the stairs. Hotel is located in the hills, so you must prepare to climb the steps a lot.
We had nice time there. Food was very good. I think if you didnt find anything to eat on those buffets it more yours problem, not hotels. At least we were very happy with the meals.

“NOT WORTH 5* RATING FOOD SHOCKING!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2009

I took my 7yr old granson to this hotel for the ammenities & Aqua park which was well layed out & fab, he loved it! & also the watersports ( the few that were there ) he enjoyed the archery, & the entertainment/ & staff (couldn't fault them) The scenery was second to none you look right over the beach & bay whilst dining, we had a big room with plenty of storage, overlooking the beach & swimming pool, BUT thats were the enjoyment ended!

My grandson found a staple in his coco pops ( he could of choked ) but when I reported it to the Maitre D' a Mr Kostas Stamatakis, he just shrugged his shoulders & know apologies, it could of been very costly for the hotel had my grandson needed medical attention, But I wasnt going to leave it ( because of his attitude) so I reported it to assistant manager Mr Michalis Maris who was charming & full of appologies! the way it should of been!

The food was dreadfull! I hardly ate a thing, my grandon lived on coco pops, bread, & spagetti bol for the week, as he said all he other food didn't look nice! the honesty of children! the place had lots of flys wherever you sat which was awfull.

I won't be visiting this hotel in the near future & neither will I recomend it UNTIL they get the food sorted out ............you have to get buses into town & also taxis are expensive.

Our holiday experience was made great by the family we met who were lovely to my granson he had sooo much fun with them all & I thank them for that!

“Excellent all round resort something for everyone”

We stayed at the hotel from 27 aug to 4 sept. hotel reception was very helpful on arrival and we had two rooms next to each other 745/746 rooms were basic but view over sea was lovely made up for this. porter service was poor we decided to carry our cases up 100 steps!
food was plentiful in main restaurant, and we ate in both ala carte rest ambrosia was the best .decor very good and food excellent. beach was clean and excellent watersport company ! pool areas were very good not crowded due to the many pools around the resort, waterpark was fab and good for all age groups but beware the walk is very tiring and up a deep slope, main bar had to 2 excellent cocktail waiters who always kept you topped up with drink and who were very entertaining! in the day and night alot of activites for kids and adults! the only down side is the hotel built into a cliff and there is steps every where with the hotel on different levels, but very good all round resort for a week, if you went there for 2 weeks you would have to get a car and explore to break the routine!
