“A piece of paradise!”

The hotel was quite large, with a variety of rooms and 3 swimming pools as well as a 1 min walk to its own private beach.
You could tell the hotel had some age to it, however the room was a good size and very clean as was the hotel area in general.

The hotel is placed in a secluded area in the mountains with beautiful views, the rooms are close to the beach ranging from a 1min walk to a maximum of 5 min walk. Next to the hotel is a small village about a half an hour walk away, where there are some local shops and you can buy some authentic greek items. There is a small house turned museum, dedicated to the artist El Greco who was from there which was a pleasant trip. There are not many shops in the area if you don't have transport, but the hotel offers most things you need anyway.
I was renting a car while staying there so made a couple of excursions, I saw that the hotel offered trips and I definitely recommend going to Xania for a day.

The staff was always friendly and helpful and seemed to be from all around europe. The room was cleaned everyday and always to a satisfactory standard. There was a sign on the wall asking to keep the towels for more than a day if they were not dirty to help the environment, pity I didn't see it till the last day, but it's always nice to know there are people out there who care.
They also offer a pick up and return ironing service which was quite handy and quick as well.

The food to be honest was one of my favourite parts of this holiday!
With breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet served daily I can say there was not a moment where I went feeling hungry.
The breakfast was standard, with eggs, sausages, bacon, cereals, fruit, chocolate pancakes and all the rest you can think of.
Lunch and dinner, both had a good variety of hot and cold foods. They had many options to choose from and you could pile your plate as high as you want or just go back for more, my personal best was any dish made with the eggplant, whatever dish it was in, tasted great!
For desert there were usually three or four options and no matter how stuffed i was from the main course, I always managed to make room for them because they were so tasty, especially the cream ones, mmm just thinking about them now is making my mouth water. They also had fresh fruits and ice cream if you wanted to be a bit more healthy but I never did :)

They had three swimming pools, one in the shade which seemed good for the kids and two other bigger ones. I personally only swam in the pool once, it was very clean and the water was chilled to a nice temperature. I spent most of my time on the beach which had the hotel on one side and a mountain on the other side. The beach was shared in half with another hotel but you wouldn't notice, the shore was a bit rocky but once you got a bit further in the sand was nice and soft. They had plenty sun beds and umberallas for shade. There is also a small beach bar for drinks and snacks so you don't have to walk far if you got thirsty.
there was an array of activities from yoga, to table tennis, beach volleyball and many other activities for kids and adults.

The room was quite spacious and had all the basics such as, couch, tv, shower, A/C, minibar, safe etc.
All the sheets and pillows were clean and room service changed them daily if you wanted. There was a balcony overlooking the beach with beautiful views in the day and night. If you left the window open you could hear the waves, I couldn't think of a better way to fall asleep. Just remember to close the mosquito guard as I learned the hard way not to forget.

Stayed for a couple of days the first days of September with my family (wife and two children 9 and 3) in an AI package. We stayed in a family room next to the beach. Large room and very clean. Daily cleaned and towel changed.
Buffet breakfast with a lot to choose from, everything fresh and tasty.
Meal and dinner also very great. Could need improvement in presentation.
Snack bars open all day long for snacks and drinks by the pool.
Wonderfull water park, great fun for the children.
Activities all day long until late at night with a great animation team.
Staff everywhere (reception, restaurant, animation team, life guards, room service) very friendly and kind.
We had a wonderfull time and the children loved it.
We will be back next year!!

We were really surprised! Not in the good way.:-(. Internet presentation shows fantastic
Hotel rooms with the see view and says, Fodele is 5* hotel.. ! I would rate the room something like between 2-3* max!!! Food, pools, animations great, but the rooms are not so good as presented. Do not want to come back any more mainly because it is cheating!!!

Just 8 days back I and my family a dream vacation on the island of Crete, a wonderful hotel on all inclusive basis, and has also given a water park for children, most affordable resort experienced so far. The hotel is located in Agia Pelagia beach.

“A vacation to remember”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2011

We visited Fodele Beach for two weeks in mid-June 2010. Traveling with two small children and being pregnant with the third we read a lot of reviews before booking our vacation. We trusted the recommendation of a good friend who recently had been there but read also the negative ones at Trip advisor. Staircases and being far from the pool/beach area could indeed be a problem for us.

Our stay became a very nice vacation. Six months after the vacation, we still speak daily about it. Fodele Beach is a big resort. There are several areas with pool and rooms. We had one of the family rooms/suits (with two rooms) close to the beach.
Here there was also a smaller pool area. In the mornings we could enjoy the pool and in the afternoons, the beach was easily reachable. It is a sand beach that we liked very much. Only problem in high season is that some people block the seats with towels. It is written actually that it is forbidden but many people do not follow that. At least there are more seats so you can go and get more seats.

The resort is built on a hill so some rooms are indeed far away from the beach. But if you are on top of the hill, than you are very close to the water park. If you children are older, this could be what you prefer. Besides the distance to the dining rooms and beach, the area looks very charming with lemon trees and pergolas. Some might prefer that.

There is a train that goes up and down the hill. When we were there, the train was not running all the time, but when you wanted to go up to the water park, you could ask for a ride at the reception. Sometimes, you had to wait 5-10 minutes but we thought that is acceptable. I was 7 months of pregnant, but I believe that was not a special treatment to us. We were not the only ones waiting for the ride.

To access the dining rooms, you have to climb some stairs if you are having the rooms close to the beach. We thought it was good for us with all the available food and deserts. I thing if you come from the other direction, from the reception, there is an elevator.

The food is very good. With children, we preferred the open buffet. Good variation, a lot of fruit and vegetables, meat, pasta. What ever you want you will find it here. Risk to overeat is high but it is also possible to follow Mediterranean Diet with all great Greek food and water melon. In the hotel there are also two restaurants with reservation and table service. We tried it once. It was good but we thought the food in the buffet was as good and less stress so we didn’t even try the second one.

The animation program for children is very good. Every evening you can attend the “child disco”. The songs are in Italian, German and English. The animators are very good and very friendly. Whole day long, there are activities for children. They even eat together.

We really enjoyed staying there, as mention this was one of the best vacation we had together with children.

If you want to go for sight seeing, you should rent a car. There is no public transportation from the hotel to other cities or villages.
