“Honest Service”

After working my way through college in the restaurant industry, I am in tune to service industry philosophy and implementation. This hotel has a group of employees who go above and beyond all expectations and truly care about their guests. Upon my first stay, the front desk provided recommendations for things to do and places to fulfill our needs as only a local person could know. From management, front desk, maintenance, housekeeping, security and food breakfast personnel, everyone works as a team and treat you as a guest in their home rather than someone to fill a room. They have provided shuttle service to and from the airport on numerous occasions, including going out of their way to help me get to a few places not typical of a “normal route/stop” mindset. One employee actually used her personal vehicle when a shuttle was not available. I cannot thoroughly explain or do this hotel justice for everything they have to offer. I highly recommend to everyone that if they would like to be treated like a person rather than receive fake smiles, simply handed a key and left to fend for yourself in an unknown territory, then they should consider Holiday Inn Express for any vacation or work destination in the area. The hotel itself is also up to speed with the numerous different hotels I’ve stayed in throughout the country and they wear their banner proud by holding up the standards for the facility. I have consulted on hundreds of building envelopes of all kinds and can state in my professional opinion that this hotel is well maintained, clean and a safe place to stay.

“Great Stay”

While working a long term project at the AAFES facility nearby, I was lucky enough to stay at this Hoilday Inn Express. The place is kind of off the beaten track. Nice and quiet after a long workday. The front desk staff are superb. Very courteous, friendly, and helpful with directions and locations for the things I needed. Can't say enough about them. Thanks Y'all for all the help. Housekeeping staff was very good. Thanks to them as well. I would most definately recommend this place to anybody.

From the time I checked in until I checked out I was part of the family of employees. Was in the same room from May to December. Only one problem during the hurricane . I recommend this hotel to anyone staying near the Base or The Exchange. Give the front desk people a raise and the housekeepers too! Sad to leave , happy to go back to Texas.

“Quiet Hotel, Room damp and small.”

This location is tucked away from heavy traffic, close to the interstate and base. It is between Williamsburg and Newport News, so makes commuting easy. Not any nice restaurants around, but hotel is nice for the price. Not many rooms on each floor, so its pretty quiet. The staff was very friendly. Room seemed damp though, so didn't like that. Not sure if it was our room, or all. We stayed for three nights, and I didn't notice it the first night. My wife did. But the floor seemed a little damp, and our clothes did as well the next morning. Have noticed this at other hotels but very few. Don't like changing rooms unless we have to, and we weren't there much of the day anywase, so just stuck it out. Didn't smell, just damp.
Nice kithenette in the room, thats what we really liked. Sink, microwave, stove top, and fridge. Bathroom was very small, hard to get in and close the door at the same time. Don't believe we would stay there again though.

“A decent stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

The hotel is in an odd location, right off Hwy 60 but not many restaurants or shopping in the immediate area, unless they were hiding behind the trees. Even though it was right off the highway it wasn’t noisy. Its location is, however, perfect for touring Historic Jamestowne, Williamsburg and the Yorktown Battlefield. We stayed because of its proximity to those places as well as the airport. The rooms are small and not what you would be use to in a Holiday Inn Express. The bathroom was crammed and was difficult to get to. We had 2 double beds and we had to walk around the one bed to get to the bathroom as it was right next to the bed. They had a nice guest laundry area with a folding table. The WiFi is free but it kept kicking me off the connection. We walked around the building looking for the pool and couldn’t find it. Apparently it shares the swimming pool with the neighboring Mulberry Inn as it was located in Mulberry Inn’s parking lot. The pool was very nice and warm but it wasn’t really adjacent to the hotel. The breakfast was what you would normally expect of a Holiday Inn Express. The staff was friendly and hotel lobby was nice. Overall this is a good place for a night.
