“Excellent selection”

We stayed one night at this hotel to visit with family on our way down south. We had stayed there before and once again were very happy with the Inn. I received a call the day before our stay to advise us that the lobby was under renovation and indeed it was! Empty actually but it didn't negatively impact our stay. We never heard any noise. The free breakfast was moved to a hospitality suite on the first floor. The breakfast food included hot and cold, fresh selections in a very nicely decorated room, There was an attendant there the whole time. The room we had was a king non-smoking on the third floor. The room was clean, spacious and accommodating, There are a number of restaurants within walking or short driving distances and they are open late in case of late travel. I used the exercise room which was small but clean and modern, with a significant selection of cardio and weight options. The price for this hotel was the best in the area and well worth it!

“Overall fine, minor issues”

I booked this hampton instead of the oyster point location for two reasons.....indoor pool and it was a little less expensive than the other. I hadnt realized they were so close to each other which is a little perplexing but I guess it works for them.

Checkin was easy. The lobby is being remodeled so breakfast and the coffee station was set up in the first two guest rooms off the lobby. The hotel called ahead of our stay to tell us about the construction, which was above and beyond. the constuction certainly wouldnt have impacted my decision to stay but the call was a nice touch.

I was really looking forward to using the hottub but was disappointed to find it out of order. The regular pool was very warm so it fit the bill. Should have realized there would be a lot of kids there, it being a holiday weekend but the screaming got to me after awhile and we bailed on the pool. A weird thing was the floor mats were rolled up right in front of the door. Housekeeping came as we were leaving the area.

The room was standard hampton fare. Good sized flat screen and ample towel supply. The hvac was very noisy and I was awakened often by it turning on or off.

Would probably stay here in the winter and stay at the other location in the warmer months.

“A Consistent, Completely Satisfied Stay”

I originally wanted to stay at The Hampton Inn & Suites at Oyster Point in Newport News less than two miles away from this property because it appeared to be newer, won an award and offered a few more amenities. My client, however, reserved a room at this property and, as a result, I also reserved a room at this property. This Hampton Inn did not dissapoint! I was completely satisfied with my stay from check-in to room accommodations to breakfast to checkout. Front desk staff was superb and greeted and said good-bye with a smile.

“Above and beyond expectation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

On Sept. 16, 2011, my mother, Jackie Bowen, and I checked into Hampton Inn Newport News, VA. From the beginning, we were overwhelmed by the kindness, comfort and subsequent flowers, cards and condolences we received from everyone at the hotel.
When we extended our stay three times, Keisha and Melanie were very accommodating. When I needed to vent, after having spent a day at my dying aunt’s bedside, they were always willing to lend an ear.
Gertrude and Justin went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and privileged as they personally chauffeured us back and forth to my aunt’s house.
Everyone was caring. Even at breakfast, we felt special when our hostess (whose name I’ve regrettably forgotten) made sure we were comfortable and had everything we could need or want, including a photocopy of the newspaper’s obituary of our relative’s passing.
Right up to the very end, the entire staff was more than accommodating. For Melanie printing out our airplane boarding passes, I am truly grateful. This was a wonderfully helpful timesaver, especially since I am less than computer-savvy.
Not only was the staff exceptional, but so were our accommodations. On top of that, we were given bereavement rates.
We found staying at your hotel to be above and beyond anything we could’ve expected.
As we’ve shared, with family and friends, the details of our sojourn, we’ve included our stay at your hotel as one of the highlights. Please know how grateful we are for turning our sorrowful trip into an experience we can look back on with a warm smile. We will be back!

Sincerely,
Karla Rampey
