The hotel website was misleading in describing the accommodation as luxurious. Basic would have been more appropriate. Although the exterior of the building is beautiful the interior is horribly outdated. The room bore no semblance to the photos on the website. Decor was mismatched and faded by the sun, the carpet stained and the room was generally run down and in need of redecoration. We requested a ground floor room (as we had a baby and a pram) when we booked online, and which i confirmed with a phone call but where given a room on the first floor. When we complained, the less than helpful staff offered us the option of a ground floor apartment for an extra 600 euros, we had already payed 1500 euros for the 2 weeks so declined. The website claimed there was a gym, which turned out to be a room with a rowing machine and a video game in. The pool was ok but smaller than it looked on the website and the paint was peeling on the walls. However the ile de re is fantastic and this made up for the poor accommodation.
