We have just returned from a 5 night stay in this hotel and were delighted with every aspect of it. It now has the decor and ambience of a boutique hotel; the restaurant food was superb and all aspects of the hotel service were faultless.
We had booked a junior suite which was beautiful, but my husband had damaged his ankle just prior to our holiday and he found the stairs to the mezzanine bedroom area a bit tricky so we asked to be moved to a superior room instead.
The hotel not only moved us immediately but only charged us at the superior rate for the whole duration of our stay.
Because it isn't in the most stylish or picturesque part of the island - but is very convenient for short stays, so close to the bridge to La Rochelle - it needs to try harder. This it certainly is doing and the very evident pride that the young staff have in their stunning hotel creates an atmosphere where nothing is too much trouble. This positive attitude inevitably enhances guests' overall enjoyment of their stay at de la Maree.
