“A very small Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We booked this hotel on the internet and stated we needed a room fit for disabled. We were given a ground floor room with no disabled facilities. We managed but if we had a wheelchair it would have been useless. The room was very small 8ft x 8ft approx and the bathroom was so small it was difficult to get to the toilet. The bed was very hard.

If you like small this hotel is well furnished with flat screen TV, the staff are welcoming and helpful.

Room Tip: All th rooms the same

“good service”

Booked the hotel through their central reservation website 4 days in advance at a good rate and made them aware we were going to arrive late. We received an email back from the actual hotel saying that they would close at 22.00 hrs, so if we could call beforehand we would receive an access code and room number. On our way to the hotel I was about to call them for these details, but they made the effort to call me and gave me all the details (in English, although my French is not too bad) and was informed that the room key would be in the door. Upon arrival at around 23.30 hrs the access code worked all fine (code is and for gate onto premises and front door) but standing in front of our room, there was no key in the lock. I rang the hotel number and after hearing the phone ring behind the closed reception desk, I feared the worst. Luckily the call got diverted and was answered by a lady. I explained the situation and within 2 minutes she was with me (it appears that this lady lived in a part of the hotel, above their restaurant). she found the key (still behind the reception desk) and apologised.
The room itself was very small (think Etap if you've ever stayed there before) but I was expecting this after reading other reviews and it was for only 1 night. Room itself has flat screen tv, all the soap bits and pieces in the bathroom and even disposable bath slippers! Breakfast itself was great - a lot of choice if you like continental breakfast - and it was help yourself to whatever you wanted. The receptionist was friendly and although I tried to speak French with her, she responded in English.
For a two star rated hotel I was definitely not disappointed.

“Excellent stopover for Eurotunnel users.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

After reading some of the reviews of this hotel I did wonder if it would be a good choice for one night before returning via the Eurotunnel..... now I know I made a good choice. Friendly welcome on arrival and the rooms were ready for us immediately, booked breakfast for the next morning [8.50 euros] and off to Cite Europe [5mins by car].
After a few hours shopping and with a much lighter wallet we returned to the hotel. The rooms are not very big but adequate for a 1 or 2 night stop, have tea/coffee making facilities and several English tv channels available including BBC1 and 2. Quiet and peaceful location meant a good nights sleep.
Continental breakfast was fine with cheese, ham and boiled eggs, cereal, toast and croissants and extremely good coffee!
Overall good value for money with very pleasant, helpful English speaking staff.

“Problem solved”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

Having once tried a Kyriad at Le Havre I had vowed never to use the chain again. My brother encouraged my to try and the Coquelle hotel was the one I ended up with. My recent visit is the latest this year to the same hotel. Arriving in the early evening I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who insisted on speaking English to my attempts to speak French and within minutes I was in the room with my bags and a table booked for dinner. The following morning the bathroom light failed to work, immediately this was attended to, although it couldn't be sorted out because a spare part was needed. Alternative arrangements were made for us to be able to shower & shave etc.Apologies continued for the rest of our stay. The rooms are small, but clean and comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities. I would have like to have 2 ordinary tea bags rather than one Twinings yellow label and one fruit infusion, but that is a small problem.

In terms of finding the hotel, approaching from the round about with the tunnel digging machine was easy, the sign stood out for some distance.

Overall I was pleased with the stay. The food in the restaurant was good, the breakfast plentiful and service fine. We found the staff friendly and helpful and will use the hotel again.

“Kyriad Coquelles”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

This is a nice hotel that maybe needs a little update. Oveall its clean and ideal for a one night stop after a trip through the tunnel or off the ferry. I have stayed here as a single travller and with the wife and the welcome is warm and the breakfast is good. I find it a little pricey for what you get and have found the B&B in the same location to be as nice without the extras of a 24 hour reception.
We paid €55 for our last stay and to be honest it was just on the limit of a fair price. Its clean, tidy and friendly but you get a lot of 1 night stop overs due to its location. If i was with teh wife i would stop here but by myslef i would save the money and use the B&B - I travel through Coquelles a fair bit as i love taking the bike over and touring France and the rest of Europe

Room Tip: try a search online, you will normally get a better rate than if you just walk in off the street.
