“Beautiful charming house”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2010

It is a big house with lots of room and services, indeed you almost feel like in an hotel.
Evelyn takes care of the breakfast (good with local fruits and cheese) and advices on restaurant for which we were never disappointed. There is plenty of things to do in this B&B (tennis, swimming pool, ping pong,....) therefore it should suits families very well. Unfortunately we could not rest as wanted, one of the owner's daughter had a party with her friends in the garden and did make noise until late in the night. Bed sheets could have been cleaner.

Dear sir,
Thank you for your contribution,
My daughter's birthday is one's a year and we made sure that there was no noise after 11.00 pm. Bed sheets are given to an association in order to support the reinsertion of disabled people. It is not always perfect but it is clean.
We thank you that you would still advice Castell Rose to your friends and hope to see you again in Castell Rose.

“A Real Find”

My husband and I just returned from a 3-week vacation to France and one of the weeks was spent at Castill Rose, one of the best accomodations we've ever had in our many, many travels abroad. We can't say adequately how perfect our experience there was. Evelyn and Alex are, as others before us have reported, hosts par excellence! We rented one of the "apartments" and every possible provision was there and though modern, the place was appointed with great attention and charm. The main house, the old chateau, is also stunning. We are travelers who prefer to have the opportunity to cook our own meals and enjoy relative privacy. We just loved this place, our experience there and our hosts!

“Perfect place to stay with wonderful view of Mount Canigou”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 March 2010

My husband and I stayed here in March this year. Although we surprised the owners, who had just returned from their family holiday, we were warmly welcomed and shown a beautiful room which we then stayed in for two nights.
Our hosts were both charming and very attentive in an unobtrusive way, recommending delightful places to eat out and visit. The ambience of Castel Rose was particularly in evidence at Breakfast when we shared a table with eight French guests in their lovely Dining Room.

“Wonderful Cottage/Gite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2010

We spent two weeks in a wonderful gite/cottage separated from the main house by a beautiful garden. The terrace of our gite had a magnificent view to Mount Canigou. Equipped with a BBQ we spent virtually every evening outside enjoying a good meal and a splendid wine. The whole gite is equipped with modern applicances, e.g. induction stove, computer with free internet access. As a family with a three year old kid, we enjoyed the swimming pool, the trampoline and the playground in the park of the nearby Hotel de Ville. Family Waldvogel seems to have thought about even the smallest detail, e.g. there is even a baby bath. It is only a one hour drive to the sandy beaches of the Mediterranean. The nearby old village Villefranche de Conflent offers a city wall, a fortress and several caves. Worth the trip is the "Petit Train Jaune" which climbs in breathtaking views up to the plateau "Cerdagne". We are planning going back for another memorable vacation.

“DELIGHTFUL in a wonderful setting”

We had a wonderful stay at the Castell Rose for 5 days. Evelyne and Alex were great hosts. We stayed in their Picasso studio and our expectations were fulfilled from their description. The studio had everything you could need, even a garlic crusher. We were given a beautiful basket of all the local buiscuits and nougat, which we felt was a lovely touch. The private terrace had wonderful views of the mountains, along with their beautiful grounds, with bursts of wild flowers everywhere. There were lots of lovely places to sit in the grounds quite quietly. We played tennis and were pleased to also find a practice wall. The pool wasn't heated when we were there (late Sept) but we still enjoyed swimming. Prades is a lovely unspoilt town, with a traditional french square which you are able to walk into easily.
The area around Prades is beautiful and we went to Eus up in the hills, and really enjoyed the petit yellow train ride up into mountains. You can catch the train 10 mins away.

The house looked lovely too, and I would also be very happy to stay there. The larger apartments were also of the same quality.

We also had use of a up to date laundry room with dryer.

We will definetely return to Castell Rose, when we return to Prades
