We have visited Pyrkerhof 2 times now. The first time in March 2011, and I mean it was the only hotel in Gasteiner valley to offer "ski in ski out". It is important to me, and presumably for all skiers is that the slopes are open, and there are those here. You do not have to take a gondola or ski lift to get to the hotel again. But I also want to stay well and Hotel Pyrkerhof satisfies my needs, Great room with beautiful views either towards the ski hill or down the center of Bad Hofgastein. Spa room is lovely and has both a sauna and steam bath. The bar and restaurant are great and have large panoramic windows to the slopes or down the center. The breakfast is as good as at any other hotel I have used. The restaurant is also good and offers good wine. No one leaves The restaurant hungry!

I think the staff at the hotel provide very high quality service and make you feel at home.

The Pyerkerhof is located on a hillside across the highway from Bad Hofgastein. Very nice setting, but not as isolated as their advertising would make it seem. We stayed in Spring so can't evaluate the property as a base for winter sports, which seems to be part of its focus. The property has excellent views, but unfortunately the views from many (probably most) of the rooms are over the tops of roofs of the hotel itself, which detracts quite a bit. Staff was very courteous but not always helpful. Examples: One person hurriedly gave us incorrect starting directions for a hike which led to a much longer, more complcated outing than we had in mind; they sell postcards but don't have stamps in denominations that will work with them (although they have other denominations). And the entire place is getting shopworn: it needs some refurbishing and brightening up - at least, if it is to be consistent with its advertising. Included breakfast was standard and OK; our one dinner at the hotel restaurant was not bad but not memorable. Also, be aware that this property caters to tour groups and tour buses, so the noise and crowdedness levels can change in an instant.
