We stayed 12 nights in KC's in January. We had a reservation with either a garden view or parking lot view - and guess which we ended up with. There's a construction site starting right across the street, so for some rooms that could make disturbance in close future. Otherwise the street doesn't make much of disturbance since Koh Chang is rather quiet and peaceful island. The most disturbance to rooms comes from the corridor or neighboring rooms, there's hardly any noise isolation and if your neighbor is wathing telly loud, you'll hear it clearly.
Many others have mentioned the location of the hotel, and it for sure is the biggest plus. It's at the far end of the road that goes by the beaches, so it's not much of traffic there. You have a 7-Eleven and laundry service right next to the hotel, so you can practically live on the pool and the beach and only make a short stop on the road if you like. On the beach side it's also rather quiet. Busiest area is on the left and on the right there are only few restaurants and bungalows.
Sunbeds by the pool were full almost every day, and especially the ones near the beach with shades were reserved as early as 6.30 AM. But once you got your place, it's nice and relaxing. Pool is there, but the sea is just some 20 metres away, so we prefered that. Good showers, okeyish toilets.
Even if our room was facing the wrong side on the outside, on the inside it was practical. Some signs of wear and dirt especially on the bathroom, but other than that, good. Paying little more attention to the details would do wonders for this place. For example, when returning to the room at night after dinner it was funny to guess how many gekko lizards you see on the corridor walls, nine at best, but they still should clean their excrements more often.
The minibar was the best since the hotel didn't want to rob you with it. Chang and Singha beers cost the same 35 bht they cost at the 7-Eleven next door. Same with everything else. Three 0,6 l bottles of water complimentary every day.
Breakfast was an average, nothing really fancy or extraordinary. Just practical.
The staff at the reception were helpful and polite.
You get a free code for WLAN access. Worked well for us.
By the beach you can see a beautiful sunset.
