Very nice hotel, although not on the beach provides shuttle transportation and also transportation to and from airport good breakfast thai and western,very friendly staff, make efforts to speak and understand English .very relaxing atmosphere beautiful gardens techno music some days very loud destroying the peaceful atmosphere

There's nothing actually *wrong* with Ramayana and I feel slightly guilty giving it three stars...but we assumed from the website and price that it was going to be a little boutiquey kind of place and we couldn't have been more wrong. It's a pretty big package tour type hotel located in a neither-fish-nor-fowl area of Koh Chang (though there are hourly songthaews to the beach and you can hire scooters) and all the other guests were...well, old, and we're not. The rooms were lovely, the minibar ludicrously cheap and the 'activity schedule' packed (if you like that sort of thing) but we paid about 10x more than we could've at a cabana down the road. The food was definitely passable but the nightly entertainment dreadful - you'll want to go somewhere else in the evenings unless you like retiring to bed with bleeding ears! Lonely Beach, around 6km away, is not lonely at all and much better for food, nightlife, etc.

Overall I was very pleased with the hotel. The facilities were good, staff very friendly and a decent breakfast. However I was appalled by the Gala Christmas Dinner we were forced to pay and subsequent service from the Manager.

We paid nearly £200 on a compulsory dinner for Christmas Eve, the food was awful and they made 1 turkey to share between about 60 people. They were serving parts of the turkey we would normally give the family dog! The hotel also had the cheek to add 25% the normal drinks prices. On complaining about this I was given normal prices but asked to keep it quiet in case other guests complain!

On complaining to the manager, Tony, he said the dinner was compulsory and it is the hotel policy not to refund. I also complained to Head Office but with no avail. All Tony's response was that every hotel does these gala dinners and it is our choice whether we attend or not. On complaining further we were offered £20 to spend at the pool bar but not much in return for what I consider a theft of £200.

I think this is a terrible attitude and a very short sighted view. Hopefully the hotel will change it's policy in the future.

Ramayana is a great place to stay if you want some peace and quite away from the busy Ko Chang beaches. The room was comfortable and clean, and the staff extremely friendly.

The food was good but not amazing and the restaurant too playing too loud music and badly placed by the road.

The jacuzzi didn't work and no effort was made to fix it.

Was disappointed by the fact that you have to pay for wi fi in your room and the common, free Internet was down constantly.
