I am happy to give the Tropicana Resort & Spa on Koh Chang a great review. The bungalows are beautiful in their private and quiet setting, they are super nice inside with a cozy patio for evenings which I notice people seem to enjoy. The food was outstanding, the menu was great and the restaurant could not be any closer to the beach so it was great to spend evenings listening to the waves while dining on the beach... that's what holidays are all about - warm nights, good ambience. The service staff are friendly and helpful. I didn't expect their Spa to be so good but we thought it was first class! And yes, the sandy beach is nice and the water was warm!

We booked the only seaview de luxe bungalow for five nights and were really disapointed as it is a poolview or may be a restaurant view bungalow and just in front of the bungalow every night a life music band is playing until eleven o'clock. After one night we could change the bungalow but the value for money is really bad in this hotel. The furniture looks old and there is no charm in this bungalow. It was not our first stay on the island of Koh Chang but for sure we will never stay again in this resort. At the weekend big groups of Thai tourists stayed there and there are also a lot of russian tourists in this resort. Also the staff is not really friendly with a few exceptions, We have been several times in Thailand for holidays and had never such a bad experience.

I have had to leave from Koh Chang next day and I got the voucher for 1 night at Tropicana Koh Chang, I called to reserved the room available.

Next day I Check-In before noon, at first receptionist sent me to deluxe room [like a building and I loved that type than cottage] after that not over 2hrs. the ringing lound someone told me my voucher that I used is Executive Cottage, she like me to pack my cloths and move room.

Now I got the cottage not far from Rest. and Beach front pool.
I back from out side too late and tried, go to the shower room in-door but Glass wall !!!!

Suddenly during I shower and washing my hair, I saw two guy hiden from Glass wall out-side
I'm not clear to see them face because the glass wall not bright and out side darkness than shower room, them excited my scream so lound and jump down from steps behide the Glass wall out-side.

After that I called to front desk, asked for security gard at night and let's the resort acknowledge was happen out-side my room. Reception told me for garantee not resort staff maybe two foreigner guy close my cottage. [ I am not agrre that reason!!!] because in this resort got many Cambodian staff that I saw in a day after I check-In and they know the room that I living .....alone....tonight!

I can not sleep over night and so upset to bought the scary resort voucher

We have just had a very relaxing stay at the Tropicana. We are a couple in our mid sixties who have stayed in many of the resort areas in Thailand. It was very quiet (off season), almost no hawkers on the beach and not so many people in the hotel either. We were upgraded to a bungalow which was very nice.The grounds are superb and the option of two swimming pools both of which are very nice. The beach is not the best for swimming. Quite stony and shallow and at low tide a walk to get out to the water. Nicer areas to swim a short walk up the beach.Our bungalow had some deficiencies...no drawers, poor lighting and no comfortable chair and it had no shower only a bath with a hand held shower. There was a cold shower in a small private courtyard outside.
Breakfast had a reasonable choice. We would not have our meals in the hotel Too expensive. It is a little walk to the road but there is plenty of choice for meals or to buy bread from the bakery and extras from the 7/11 for lunches and fruit from the stalls. It is easy to get a songtaw in to White Sand Beach or take a trip to Bang Bao.It is also cheaper to use the internet down the road.
The staff were excellent. Always a smile and everyone says hello.
We felt we got we paid for and had a very relaxing holiday which was what we had aimed for on this trip.
