I wasn't feeling too well when I arrived in Rishikesh, and Lucky Hotel was right there next to the bridge as I turned onto Luxman Jhula Road. So, I took a room and collapsed on the bed.
Somehow I lasted two nights in this place...
The temperature dropped 10 degrees as I walked into the upstairs corridor and the room was just as cold, if not colder - to the point I needed to sleep in my 0degrees sleeping bag with a thick blanket over the top. Compare this to the place I moved to next where I was too hot in my sleeping bag...
The ceiling of my Lucky Hotel room was covered in black mold (picture attached), the bathroom was perpetually wet and there was little light.
I took one of the more expensive 'Ganga facing' rooms too, so it was supposed to be the best choice. The window that looked onto the Ganga was tiny with only a thin stretch of glass (as seen in photo). Granted, the room was only 350Rp a night.
The bed was rock hard (I had bruises on my hips from sleeping on my side and I do not bruise easily) and the pillow was so hard it actually hurt my head (I had to use a jacket and shawl as a pillow to be able to sleep at night).
If I was feeling ok I wouldn't have even looked twice at this place, as I doubt you would do either, but just in case you're planning to book ahead I wanted to warn you.
This hotel was easily the worst place I stayed on my trip. Disgusting. Do NOT stay here.
(Credit goes to the staff, though, who were nice enough).
