“Lovely setting, beautiful resort, great food - perfect for a relaxed weekend getaway”
We (a group of six friends) spent a night at the Rishikesh Valley resort, and left feeling bad that we couldn't stay longer. To enjoy the resort to the fullest, one must spend at least two days there.
To reach the resort, one has to take a cut 4 kms from Lakshman Jhula on the right, cross a bridge, take left, and then move 6 more kms. The road leaves the Ganga and enters a new valley through which a tributary of the Ganga runs. A sign on the left welcomes you to Rishikesh Valley resort. Cars/ bikes have to be parked on the side of the road from where it is a 2 minute downward walk to the resort.
Set in a garden type setting with a mud path in the middle and 9 cottages made of bamboo on either side, the rustic feeling of the place is its USP. Lovely flowers and plants give the place a very calming effect. There is an outdoor dining area, a very cheery sitting area and place for bonfire. There's also a badminton net, a hammock and a machan which we especially loved. The resort is surrounded with fields and one can hear the river gushing in the distance.
The cottages themselves are basic but very comfortable with brightly coloured interiors and an attached bathroom. Though the place is vegetarian, the food is beyond awesome and the tea is so good that we must have drowned at least 5 cups per head during our short stay there.
The resort's calm and serene atmosphere together with Anand and Subudhi's great hospitality make a repeat visit a must.
