I can't believe I am still reading these reviews. I stayed at the Brandermill 2 years ago and had the same complaints. I was so upset about the whole thing, that I did contact the Better Business Bureau of Virginia and they wouldn't do anything. No one would answer the phone and I also got the "I'm new excuse" Can't someone take action against this place? Maybe a TV station in Virginia?

Picture this....the end of the Summer season. The sun is shining. The pool and pool side bar are beautiful, with a tent for those who don't want to get sun. The staff friendly, helpful and the grounds are nice. The views of the lake are gorgeous and the rooms are comfortable and cozy. If you have that in your mind as the Brandermill Inn then - Bop yourself on the head - because that is not it. The pool is filled with green slim, the deck and bar around the pool are rotten and filthy. The tent is covered in mildew and about to bust with leaks. The rooms are filthy, the
bathrooms stink, the beds are smelly and hard as rocks. We
arrived in a rain storm. Our carpet was soaked, the parking lots and sidewalks were filled with debris, the windows leaked and it smelled all weekend. No one bothered to clean anything. There is no daily maid service. You get 2 towels and some mix match sheets for the sofa bed. The phones do not work. You can't see the lake for the scrub trees. The view is of rotting old boats ditched in the parking lot and of 1960's pontoon boats rusting at the "marina". To top it all off the staff is non-existent and when you do talk to them, they will tell you " they are new". Don't believe
what they promise you over the phone. My family did. Don't go there. Don't even bother until it is truly "renovated, purchased by
someone else and then re-named" Go Camping - its better!

The area is very lovely with the lake next to the inn and a pleasant walk all-around. But that's where the pleasant experience ends. Brandermill Inn appears to be run down and lack maintenance. Our bathroom had crawling bugs. The bed was uneven and clumpy. The phone did not work. The front desk person was rude. For 3 days, we had NO HOUSEKEEPING services because we were told we woke up too late (at noon). My friend, who guaranteed the room to her credit card, was mistakenly billed for our stay because the Inn did not ask for my credit card when we checked in and out. This whole confusion could have been minimized by a competent, well-trained staff. This is a potentially lovely place but currently run and maintained very poorly. Next time, we'll stay at that Holiday Inn Express not too far from this location.

I am writing this review from our home which is where we stayed last night on our FIRST night as a married couple ! We arrived @ the Brandermill Inn @ 8:30 to find that our room had been to another married couple. As I stood @ the front check in desk in my wedding dress and my groom in his tux tears rolling down my face. They had NO explanation as to why this happened. They were willing to put us in a BASIC room with a king size bed. Oh and I forgot to mention that this room had just been painted a day or so before. Which would leave the paint smell in the room. I was so upset @ the staff's lack of concern on this issue. We ended up leaving to come home. We were both emotionally drained from our day and this is the LAST thing we wanted to deal with. It wasn't until I asked what they were willing to do they started to scramble. WHY did I have to ask for something to be done. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN ! ! ! I plan on calling the BBB, 12 On Your Side or who ever I need to call. We could have stayed @ the Super 8 or any other place and NOT had this issue. Ohhh one last thing NOBODY ever said they were sorry for what was going on.
