The saying "you get what you pay for" certainly applies to this hotel. I stayed 3 nights recently and while we had a good stay, there are trade offs to the low price I paid for the room.
This hotel is not very old, but appears to have been built with cheaper products - which is most evident in the bathroom where the door hinges, fan, toilet paper holder etc., were all covered with rust. The toilet paper holder was coming off the wall and the wallpaper was beginning to peel. Outside of that, the rest of the room was fine and everything seemed clean. The sink area is separate from the toilet and shower and right in the main sleeping area, which made it difficult to be the first up without waking others. It did have a blowdryer, which is not mentioned on their website. Typical bed and towels for lower cost hotels. Vacumming of the hallways began each morning before 8 a.m. There were no "free" USA Today's as described on their website and their breakfast buffet was one of the worst I've ever seen - very meager and certainly not as described on their website or even in some of the other reviews. I had the impression they were perhaps cutting back and instituting cost saving measures. The time frame of 7-9 a.m. is too tight for most guests, although I did see them helping out a couple of guests one morning around 9:20 a.m. The food consisted of bagels, hardboiled eggs and a few cereals, along with juice and coffee.
Upon our arrival at 2 pm we were told they were absolutely not checking guest in until at least 3 pm due to being very busy the night before and not having enough time to clean the rooms. There was no "I'm sorry" and no offer to hold our luggage for us. I asked if we could do all the paperwork and get keys and come back later, but the answer was no. I had to ask specifically if they would check to see if our reservation was guaranteed and that we were in the system, since we wouldn't be back for several hours. When I asked if I could extend our stay an additional night I was told I had to make the reservation on line - they couldn't offer me that price at the desk.
On the plus side, the hotel is adjacent to a mall and close to several places to eat including Hooters, Red Robin a (new) Denny's, McDonald's, Target and Starbucks (both in the Barnes and Noble across from the hotel and on MIdlothian) all within a mile of the hotel. A bit farther down Midlothian is a Famous Dave's and a TGIFriday's. The wireless internet worked fine and was free.
If you are looking for an inexpensive place to sleep only (for example if you are visiting someone in the nearby hospital) this place is probably worth the price. If you are intending to visit Colonial WIlliamsburg, Busch Gardens or Virginia Beach be aware it is an hour drive to the first two and two hours to Virginia Beach. If time isn't the problem and you don't mind the drive and the bathroom rust, the low cost makes it worth the other inconveniences.
