We have eaten here a few times, usually a weeday. We have always been by ourselves or atleast one other dining party at the same time. The last visit was on Sept.19th, 2011. Our server was Forrest, dressed in colonial period costume, who was very attentive- while still giving us privacy. His service was excellent! The food is great, we usually order the spoonbread. I also get a hot cider w/ rum. The atmosphere is unbelievable, very dark & mysterious. We had a person w/ us use ghost tracker from her I- phone to see if the spirits were w/ us. We were constantly getting feedback from it. It even told us to " get out, please" from the old slave kitchen, that now has an area you can dine in. The area around the kitchen feels eerie and we usually only linger for awhile! There is a creepy old well to look down into also. We have only been there in the dark, with low lights( if any) w/ candles. Of course they say George washington may have visited at one time too, which adds to the fun. Overall, it is a great place to visit to eat. you can walk down to the old Wayside theatre, to see a play. looks like a mini Ford's theatre, very quaint and period feeling.
