We just returned from a trip to Lynchburg for my son's graduation. This hotel was, by far, the best Holiday Inn we've stayed at. Checked in after a rough day of traveling. Yummy cookies and fresh coffee were ready for us. (The cookies are only offered Mon-Thurs.) The room was spotless with the usual amenities and a powerful air conditioner that we loved. The staff was extremely friendly, always prompt to fill our many requests. I admit we're pretty picky - we've traveled alot and know what we like. The outdoor pool is shared by the adjacent Hampton Inn. Even with temperatures in the high nineties, there were never more than 3 other people there - and the hotel was filled. Coffee is always available and it tasted robust. They have a (typical) full breakfast with a few notable offerings: sausage gravy, hard boiled eggs, and a pancake making machine which entertained the kids no end. The breakfast ladies, housekeepers, front desk personnel, and even the elevator repairman were pleasant and friendly, always greeting us with a smile. The hotel has a great location - right behind River Ridge Mall, and about 2 miles from LU. We ate dinners downtown - good restaurants, picturesque, and very little traffic. The downtown area is about 5 miles away. When we come to Lynchburg, the Holiday Inn Express is where we'll stay!
