“Excellent Experience”

Between the gracious hosts, wonderful location, comfortable amenities, massive property to explore and hike, great breakfasts, and pet-friendly with stunning views, what more could anyone want for a getaway in the Virginia mountains? With a jacuzzi and a gas fireplace, as well as a sitting area and an extremely comfortable mattress, the Blue Ridge Room was roomy and perfectly sized for my wife and I and our two English Setters. We also had exclusive use of a large enclosed porch and small outdoor porch that overlooked the llama pasture...our dogs loved it!!!! We had booked our room 6 months in advance as we stayed for over a week and fell in love with the entire ambiance of the Inn, punctuated by the ever gracious hosts Linda and Chris Best. The specfic timing of the area leaf color this October was incredible, and we can't wait to go back during the summer to enjoy the pool and the affection of Sammy, their official 'greeter' dog. A great place to relax and savor life at a slower pace, and one of the top B&B's we have visited anywhere in America.

“3x so far: perfect b&b - friendly, quiet, cozy (& not kitschy), beautiful, great breakfast, excellent hosts”

Everything here was perfect and we've been back twice and will go again. Chris and Linda are great to chat with, breakfast is always delicious, we love the decor of the rooms and also the homey common room. It's always been very clean. The rooms are each very private and delightful, with more amenities (like hot tub or jacuzzi) than most b&b's.The house is situated on the side of a hill, atop which there's the best view in all the blue ridge, we think. This is our favorite b&b in this area.

“Nice Relaxing and Peaceful Inn”

Me, my wife, and our dog stayed here for a couple nights and were welcomed by Chris and Lynn who made their home ours. We stayed in the European room which opens onto a private porch and hot tub, and also onto a garden patio. The room was smallish, quaint and comfortable - and fairly quiet, although you'll have no problem waking up for breakfast as the kitchen is overhead. A good breakfast is served at 830 although they will make arrangements for earlier/later if necessary. They also have a great in-ground pool which was nice to relax in after a long hike in the mountains nearby. The main reason we chose the inn was because it is pet friendly, and there is plenty of room for dogs to run about on the lower or upper part of the property which is pretty expansive. There is also a great swimming hole nearby which our Lab loved. Lexington is a great little town with some decent dining options and a great ice cream option called the Sweet Shoppe. We would definitely stay here again.

“Spectacular views and relaxing stay!”

My husband and I enjoyed a getaway weekend at the Applewood Inn. Our hosts, Linda and Chris, were warm and welcoming and the food was yummy! There are so many beautiful, quiet spots to just sit and relax, whether at poolside with a glass of wine or on a shady porch with a good book. We trekked with the llamas and chuckled about each of their distinct personalities, while enjoying the views of the surrounding countryside. A thoroughly enjoyable and unique weekend!

Room Tip: Loved the European Room with the private hot tub!

“Wonderful and relaxing Inn”

My husband and I stayed at the inn for three nights. We found our accommodations very clean and everything we were looking for. The innkeepers Chris and Linda were a delightful couple and were very knowledgable about the area. I must say the breakfasts in the morning were delicious and we enjoyed trying Linda's homemade jams. If you are looking for a place to unwind and rejuvenate this would be your place. The pool was great to relax in after touring the countryside. We will definitely be returning!
