“Almost average....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2010

Very typical Interstate hotel. Very used. Staff is very friendly and the continental breakfast is above average. Rooms were not very well cleaned. Our sheets had hair and some dirt. Bathroom looked wiped down at best but not cleaned. There was a used towel on the back of the door. Beds are older and have foam pads which make lots of noise with every move. Probably won't stay again.

“Gross Bathroom”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2010

We stayed on the top floor with our dog. The room smelt like stale smoke, it was obvious someone had smoked there at some point even though they say the hotel is smoke free. The walls are paper thin, we were able to hear our neighbors conversations CLEARLY, word for word. When my husband went to turn on the heater "stuff" flew out and it smelt like burnt hair. The bathroom was old and outdated and that wasn't the worst part, it smelt like urine and the floor was gross, baseboards looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years. I am no hotel snob but this place was not worth what we paid to stay there. On our return trip we stayed at the La Quinta in Salem and saved about $40 and the hotel was so much better.

“A little busy and noisy but modern and clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2010

This is a modern hotel just off one of the main routes into the lovely town of Lexington. We stayed in a standard room which was huge! As you entered there was a seating area complete with sofa, TV and coffee table and this area was sectioned off by a clean and modern bathroom and following through to a large bedroom with window. Everything about the room was great, we loved it. Only problem was the hotel was full of families with young children that night. For about four hours (up until around 11.45pm) a child (we think) ran up and down the room above us with the consequent irritating noise. The breakfast was average, we've had better in other hotel chains. We had to take it up in the lift to our room (took a couple of runs up and down!) as there were no tables free in the rather small breakfast area. Because our room was close to the lift this didn't matter too much - especially as we had our own living room. Overall we'd recommend a stay here, it's clean and modern and the rooms are great.

“Perfect for us”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2010

We stayed at this hotel for one night while attending an event at Washington & Lee. We checked in and were given room 110. Normally I ask for a room on a high floor away from the elevator and this room was on the first floor very near the elevator. We checked the room before getting our luggage from the car and found it to spacious and overall very clean. The beds were comfortable and the fridge and microwave were useful even for our short stay. The bathroom had an actual exhaust fan which is something that a number of chain hotels are missing. The only things that I saw that needed extra cleaning were detailed things like the tops of the bathroom sconces needed to be dusted, the exhausted fan grill needed cleaning, the top of the furniture holding the TV and applicances needed to be dusted, etc.. For the price I paid for the room I can overlook these things because as I said, overall it was very clean. The breakfast area was large, had good flow for the guests and a variety of food including make it yourself waffles, fruit (including bananas!), muffins, cereal, oatmeal, grits, donuts, yogurt, juice, coffee, tea, etc. They also keep coffee and items for making tea in the lobby during non breakfast hours. The pool looked well maintained though we didn't use it. We were very pleased with our stay. However, if you looking to sleep late I wouldn't suggest room 110. It was very quiet during the evening but in the morning I awoke early to noise from the elevator, breakfast guests, housekeeping, etc. Our stay here was great and we were very pleased especially for the price. Will stay there again on our next Lexington trip.
