My wife and I stayed at this HI Express recently for one night. We had read all the reviews and frankly there were not a lot of options for this area. When we arrived, the first thing we noticed was the smell of cigarette smoke in the lobby, but there was no such odor in our room. The front desk staff was very pleasant when we checked in. The room was spacious and clean, flat panel TV, but air conditioner was very noisy. If we turned off the AC then you could hear your neighbors. Since there was a triathlon being held nearby, I think the room rate was adjusted upward to reflect the higher demand for rooms. I think I would stay here again if in the area.

The price I paid for this hotel was very decent. I arrived at the hotel early afternoon and check-in was quick.

The room was big, clean with very comfortable beds. Breakfast is included and is a great way to start your day.

It is located 5 minutes from the Dahlgren Naval Base. Lots of good restaurants and gas stations are around. All the staff from the front desk to housekeeping was very friendly and helpful.

Free Wi-Fi was also a bonus.

I stayed here for a business trip for about a week and unless they get their act together I won't be back next year! The rooms weren't cleaned well and refrigerators and microwaves are optional. When i spoke to management about the lack of these appliances, which are usually standard in most hotels, they said they would be putting more in later in the year. It's funny because they didn't discount the room but I would try the Comfort Inn next store although in King Goerge/Dahlgren VA the pickings are slim. My business collegues stay in Fredericksvill VA whaich is a 30 minute ride from the base but things are better there.

Alright, so I read reviews, and yes they are old but I was very very hesitant to stay here after reading them. I was very happily surprised! This hotel is really nice for a budget hotel. The lobby is clean and has comfortable chairs, the staff are very friendly, the breakfast was decent (at 6am they had some bakery stuff, mini omlettes, bacon juices and coffee)

The conditioner also smelled great. I think the price is a bit much even though they give a discount to military people, but over all, clean, safe, quiet room- my review is from the second floor non smoking.
If you do want to stay here ,I advise you to make reservations, as we took the last room available last night, and a note on breakfast, while it says until 10, I went down to my car around 0930 and there was no food left, but I had gotten up at 6 so that was not an issue for me.

If you are military affiliated ask for the discount. We paid $77, and of course that can change in the future but it is a decent discount.
