Checked in on TDY last week. Exterior was clean and the grounds were well-kept, and the staff was courteous and helpful. The platitudes end there.
Initially, I was placed in a handicapped-equipped room (which I didn't mind, since they tend to be bigger). That room was about the same size as the average room, and having worked as a hotel manager before, I knew that either it hadn't been cleaned i several days--if at all, or the housekeeping staff did a half-assed job. The toilet had a thick brown stain that, while I confirmed it wasn't fecal matter, it was still unsightly and betrayed evidence of poor maintenance. The room had a strong pet odor, and the interior side of my door had some brown liquid stain. The fridge not only had dents on the door, but also was spray painted (WTF?!) in one area that didn't match the original color at all.
To the manager's credit, when I took my concers to her, she offered to assign me another room and knocked half of the price of that day's rate, which I appreciated since I would have been fine with just another room. However, when I went to my new room, I noticed that the refrigerator had dents on the door similar to the other one. The toilet had a very weak flush, and while that room was clean, the condition of the cabinets and furniture were poor and in disrepair (how anyone can see out of that mirror is beyond me).
Like I said, I worked for a hotel chain before, and I can tell you that these issues aren't a management failure, but an ownership one. For a fairly recent hotel, there's no excuse for any room or its furniture to be in such shoddy condition. Even if you did build your hotel on the cheap--and I feel the owners clearly did--for God's sake, at least spend the money to maintain the damn thing, or at least invest in higher-quality materials.
All in all, While I can't say my stay was especially terrible, I did find it prudent to cut my stay short and find better lodging a quarter of a mile down the road. This is a very nice trucker hotel, but not one I would visit again in the future. Unfortunately, good customer service can't overcome a bad product.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to write your review of the hotel. Thank you for the kind words you said about our staff and I am sorry your stay was not as it should have been. We are a 11 year old property and we are showing signs of wear. Next year we have already budgeted to replace all of our appliances, and some of the worst funiture. Cleanliness is an issue I can assure you we work had to maintain , It appears who ever did your room that day was off, I have reasearched that and can assure you the problem has been taken care of. I am glad you found a place to stay but am sorry we did not do our job well enough to keep you with us. Please reconsider us in the future should your travels bring you back to the Fort Lee area.
