True - the facility is not new or up-to-the-second modern, but the owners could not have been more welcoming or helpful to us. The room was quite adequate (not perfect, but you should not expect perfection for this price), the owner helped us in with our bags and made us feel at home. A local resident we met at the gas station recommended the place, for which we were very glad.

My wife, son and I stayed at Red Carpet Inn, Hillsville in early February 2009. We were on a driving trip to Florida. The front entrance and the hotel lobby area have a nice and cozy feel to it. The rooms are older, but very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. I was pleasantly surprised that this hotel also offers free Wi-Fi. Free continental breakfast is offered as well. I would recommend this hotel for family or people that appreciate friendly service and the value they get for their dollars.

While traveling home, we stopped late one night and looked for a motel to stay at. This one had reasonable prices ($49 for 2 people) and so we gave it a try.

This is a very old motel in need of updating. The entrance area is "fragrant" with incense or potpourri. You get a room key and the remote when you check in. The hallway is dingy and reminds you of motels from the 1960's. Our room was also very old and dingy. The bed was horrible. It felt like a waterbed without baffles, but it wasn't a waterbed! But the sheets were clean.

The door barely locks (even with the deadbolt) and the walls were paper thin.

We stayed here as a base for Galax and other Crooked Road music venues. It is convenient for that. The motel itself was clean but a little shabby .The bathroom needed attention, the ceiling had suffered water damage at some time and was stained and mouldy in places, also toilet and wash basin needed maintenance.
The Oriental Restaurant next door was good value for its Buffet meal!
