I stayed in the Stonewall Jackson Inn in Early December 2011. The accomodation was very comfortable and the breakfast was great. Its location, within walking distance of the town center meant I could get my work done and visit a good resturant without using the car. i can recommend the Inn as a good place to stay, very comfortable, and a great breakfast.

I'm sorry I am very late putting in this review. I have stayed at this inn a few times. What made my last visit stand out was David the new intern/innkeeper. He is a wonderful addition to this inn.

The inn is beautiful and clean. The rooms are beautiful. My one complaint about the room we were in would be that my husband and I kept inadvertantly pulling the covers off of each other because they did not fit the bed. They also seemed old and worn as did the mattress. At close to $200 a night I would expect the owner could afford proper fitting bed linens.

Also as an inn in the south named after a civil war general, you would expect the motif to be more civil war oriented. However, it is not, there are very little civil war items at the inn. The small amount of stuff sold as gifts don't have anthing to do with the civil war.

Dont get me wrong, this is a beautiful inn, and I will stay there again when in the Harrisonburg area, but it could use some seriouis updating.

The highlight of our visit was David. He is friendly and courteous. He has a vast knowledge of the civil war and history in general. His breakfast was delicious, presentation was beautiful. The best breakfast I've had at this inn so far. He also had vast knowledge of the area restaurants and sent us on a wonderful day trip around the valley. Thank you David for a wonderful experience!

So my husband and I needed to de-compress, so we spent a few nights at the Stonewall Jackson. There were two things that made my visit fantastic--Andre the masseuse and the free concert on Sunday morning. So Andre came and gave us massages Saturday night before bedtime at the inn. He worked out every muscle I had with the perfect amount of pressue. I've had a knot in my back for 3 massages, and he finally got it out. He was simply magical! If you do anything at all, make sure you add his massage to your package, he is INCREDIBLE!

Sunday morning after a very hearty breakfast and their cozy sun room we were treated to a little concert. Another guest, Homer King who was headed to New York on tour, (I'm putting his name out there for when he blows up) and the inn keeper David gave us an amazing concert. I tell you excellent talent and there's nothing like being up close and personal.

Our room was nice--the best part was no one disturbed us, and David allowed us to have a very late check out. If you live in the DC metro area and are looking for a quick getaway, definitely consider this place.

My Boyfriend and I were traveling from Atlanta to Allentown, Pennsylvania and chose the Stonewall Jackson Inn as a stopping point in the trek home for Thanksgiving. We were running behind schedule an didn't arrive until around 9pm David (great innkeeper and cook!!) was there waiting for us to arrive. He gave us a tour of the inn and suggested some amazing places to eat around town. The Inn is located within walking distance of some great restaurants. While there are some great finer dining places it was the night before Thanksgiving so we chose to do a little pub crawl of the town. JB's and BJ's were two of our favorites. Huge selection of beers, smoked wings, and burgers. We stayed in the Chamberlain room which is located at the front of the house. The bed was wonderful and the room was very clean. Breakfast was amazing. David is a phenomenal cook. We had yogurt and fruit, croissant French toast, bacon, tarragon eggs, and Apple compote. Really really yummy!! Wayne (owner) and David were both superb hosts. We had a nice chat about the history of the inn with them before breakfast and a little tour around the inn. Couldn’t have asked for a more memorable and relaxing place to stay. Thank you Wayne and David!!
