“I have the bed bug pix as proof - DONT STAY HERE!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

I stayed here for business because there wasn't much in the area at the budget that my company had for me.
The clue should have been that I was the only car in the parking lot. The only folks I saw there were a few guys that obviously worked labor in the area.
Right across the street in a truck stop. Not a good location for a female solo traveler.
In the middle of the night, I felt a bite on my thumb. Thought I was dreaming. But it was such a big bite feeling that it woke me up and I couldn't get back to sleep again. I didn't see anything on my skin. So I started working on my laptop and felt something under me. I thought it was crumbs - but I hadn't eaten anything in the bed AT ALL. Then I pulled back the covers and all I saw was blood and HEARD this hug bed bug scratching at the covers to try to scurry away. It looks like an over sized lady bug.
I called Hotels.com and they called the hotel. I collected my stuff, got a refund and left. I should have also charged him for the pain killers and Epsom salt that I had to use to reduce the swelling.

I am not being malicious, but I want others to be aware of this place and management to do something about it. I know in India, that they may have a different standard of cleanliness than in the western world. But honestly, it has taken me weeks to sleep comfortably again because I often imagine the bugs crawling up my body. GROSS!!

Room Tip: Choose to spend about $20-30 for a hotel a little further because honestly the hotels in that partic...

Thanks for your comments! Every property today has had some issue with bed bugs. We have a professional pest control company check all rooms monthly and treat any findings.

“Don't stay there”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

They try they really do. The rooms are clean but the hotel is so run down and the furniture and bedding appears so old that no amount of cleaning will help. Walking up the stairs to our floor the motel actually seems flimsy. We booked two nights there because we couldn't find another hotel that weekend, it was Parents Weekend at JMU and we payed 170 dollars a night!! But the truth is all of the hotels tripled their rates, not just the Super 8. If you need a place to stay and can get a rate here under 50 dollars, it will provide a roof over your head. Oh and by the way, we didn't end up staying there that night, I just couldn't do it. We stayed at our daughter's apt.

“I was very concerned...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

We booked late for JMU Family Weekend and had a really tough time finding anything. I didn't have much choice so I went through Hotwire. I'm sure rates were raised for this event because it was in the neighborhood of $150-175 which is ridiculously high for this place. Anyway, when I found out what chain it was I was nearly panicked due to the overall reputation and the reviews on here. That sounds snooty I know, but it's how it is.

Pros: Our room must have been remodeled in the not too distant past because it was still clean and didn't have that old/musty smell. The bathroom definitely looked remodeled. I could see where it had been painted and the fixtures looked new except for the tub. We had a microwave and fridge (didn't need or want them, but no extra charge).

Cons: We weren't there long enough to shower but the floor and walls of the tub needed a good scrubbing with bleach. Blech If the room was redone, they kept the old bedding and mattresses. I swear the blanket was made of cardboard and burlap. I can't even describe how scratchy it was. The mattress had that old, saggy feeling and anytime you moved it shook the whole bed. There was a whole line of discarded sinks out by the dumpster by parking lot. Really? They couldn't have been taken to the dump or something. The tv was a good size but the picture was dreadful. Sounds trivial, but where is the channel guide?

Bottom line: if you are desperate you could get by if you get a remodeled room. For the price we paid, it wasn't worth it.

“Bathroom was disgusting.”

I would never recommend this hotel. The bathroom shower curtain was filled with mold, the whole room was dimly lit, the hotel smelled, and the atmosphere felt grimy. I would never stay here again.
