I stayed here with a girlfriend on a sad trip, visiting someone in a hospital who was quite ill. We picked this hotel off of a map at random and upon entering the lobby, I knew this place was special. The front desk lady was very friendly, expeditious, and helpful in finding a quiet room at the biggest discount. We had AAA or military to work with. We had our room keys in less than one minute, I kid you not. The hotel has a very modern/IKEA vibe. Maybe the vase full of Chupa Chups lollipops at the front desk says it all. Springhill Suites is full of unexpected fun.
The decor is bright, springy, and fresh. When my friend and I stepped into the room, our low and tired spirits were immediately lifted. There was a bright, turquoise chaise lounge attached to a loveseat with fun throw pillows, and in front of it, two cool, white, mobile side tables. There was a desk for computing, a giant, flat screen tv that swivels to each part of the L shaped room, and a mini fridge/microwave/coffee/sink area that is not visible from the beds. Lots of thought went into the design of this room that really maximizes the small square footage. We didn't feel cramped at all in there. The windows are big and the light colors of the bedding and the IKEA lamps really made us feel like we were in a mod apartment in an IKEA catalog.
There was a shower/tub combination in a bathroom large enough to swing your arms in. I had a super hot bath in a very clean tub. There was a funny thing about the toilet paper holder being too far away to reach from the potty though. A design decision that keeps the path to the bathtub clear. Towels were fluffy and clean with just a hint of bleach smell. At least I knew they were sanitized, something my germaphobic friend was thrilled about.
We slept well in comfy beds that weren't too springy, smushy, or hard. They had four pillows for each bed, Just really the most tasteful and hip bed covers I've ever seen in an higher-ranged economy hotel. There was an iPod dock/radio that we tried to use, but it didn't seem to work and the time was set two hours earlier for some reason. But that's a minor detail. We always check our phones for the time. We were up and running on wifi very quickly, no hassle. And the huge tv kept us company before bedtime.
The next morning we found our check-out receipt had been conveniently slipped under our door. Finding no surprises on the bill, went downstairs for our complimentary breakfast in a clean, well-kept area adjacent to the lobby. There were waffles, possibly powdered eggs, fried potatoes, an oatmeal bar sort of set up, sausage, cereals, a few kinds of yogurt, bagels, hard boiled eggs, muffins, four different kinds of juice, a few hot sauces to choose from, peanut butter, honey, coffee ,tea, and english muffins. I was impressed. This area was super clean and well attended. The friendly attendant lady was obviously happy with her job.
Everything was super clean, outside noise from the hallway and other rooms was minimal, though the nearly empty parking lot told me the hotel was less than half full. All in all, Springhill Suites was a very nice place to stay. It was cheerful, had a very distinct cool factor, and is a very well thought out hotel designed to make you feel pampered. Upon our departure, the front desk lady asked us how our stay was, to which we honestly replied that we wished we could stay one more night!
