When a hotel is under destruction, not yet to even the re-construction phase, I believe they are obligated to inform the consumer. I had a 'turn-around' shift on Mercury Ave, and found this hotel on Tripadvisor, rated #2 in the Hampton area, and called the front desk for a reservation. No mention that I may not be able to find the hotel, due to the fact that the entire front end is missing. No lights, lobby off an old side entrance that was impossible to see from the main street. Room key of course did not open back door where the unfortunates were parked.
The entire building is old, not in a good way, many coats of white paint cover everything, from the elevators to the bathroom sinks. A rickety old microwave struggled to maintain it's balance on top of an ancient refrigerator which expressed it's electrical consumption all night.
The desk clerk, however, was very nice, and even called my room to see if I made it ok. Have to admit that should not be a required call.
