“Great stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2010

Stayed here for one night on our way to Myrtle Beach. Easy access from I95. Hotel was very clean, beds comfortable. We arrived after midnight and checked in very easily. Breakfast was OK just toast, donuts, fruit, and rice krispies. We always bring our own cereal for the kids, so it worked out fine. Wi-fi did not work, but it was still a great value for what we needed. Would definitely stay there again.

“If you are looking for a clean, quiet and safe place to stay then this is it.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2010

If you are looking for a clean, quiet and safe place to stay then this is it. My wife and I were in Richmond to visit family and friends. My wife and I found the hotel to be clean quiet. The continental breakfast was very minimal but there are some good places to eat like Waffle House, Aunt Sarahs Pancakes, Hardees, Shoneys and many others close by. This hotel is in a great location close to I-95 and I-64. Wal-mart is 2 blocks away and Va. Commons Mall is about 6 blocks away, convience store/gas station is next door and across the street and Ricmond is less than five minutes away. We plan to stay here whenever we go back to Richmond.

“Will be back to this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2010

WOW, great price and what a room. Flat screen, nice layout and what a bed. Nice to stay in something new. I said to the front desk, what a nice room and she had told me the place opened in Jan. Even the breakfast had a great layout. Lots in the area.

“Got the job done”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2009

We stayed here one night while passing through Richmond. You have to realize that it's a HoJo's. In Richmond. Not the Ritz. The rooms were spacious and clean. The gentleman who checked us in was polite, and another staff member didn't hesitate to give us directions to the closest sports bar so we could watch a football game. The parking lot is well lit, and safe. We went into the complimentary breakfast with little/no expectations, and agreed to go to the Wawa across the street instead.

“Nice room. Service could be better though.”

I stayed here with my husband for one night. Now, we are not that fussy when it comes to accomodation- we stay at budget hotels a lot and know what to expect and certainly don't expect the Hilton. Generally if something in a hotel could have been done better I tend to give the hotel the benefit of the doubt rather than getting critical (or writing a scathing review). But I've stayed in budget hotels across the US for the last six weeks and this was the worst service we've experienced.

Don't get me wrong - the staff weren't abusive or anything. But they were apathetic to say the least. When we checked in they were monosyllabic - there was no smile, or 'Hi, how are you'. We asked if they had maps of Richmond - most budget hotels we stay in have these, but they didn't. So we asked for directions into Richmond (the hotel is about 10 miles from downtown). But the woman who checked us in said she didn't know, and yet did not offer to find out for us or look it up on the net for us (other budget hotel staff have done this for us when we have asked a question about where something is that they couldn't answer). If a hotel is servicing tourists they should at least be able to give very basic directions or find out for their guests.

The self serve breakfast was very limited in selection . There was only one slice of bread out and when my husband asked for some more they only put 3 more slices out, and acted begrudingly when doing so. The cereal I had tasted like it was own-brand.

However - credit where credit is due - the room was clean, spacious and the bed was very comfortable. I just think the staff need to work on their customer service skills...I would recommend this place to others but only because the room was nice and represented good value for money.
