“Very good stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

Stayed here for three nights for a club volleyball tournament. The hotel is very convenient off of I-95, about 15 minutes from downtown Richmond. There are lots of eating and shopping places nearby, except Dillards just closed down in the nearby mall. The hotel was clean and the staff was very accommodating. Continental breakfast was about average for a Marriott property. The room was spacious and very clean. The bathroom, sink, and shower area were laid out nicely. My only complaint was that the queen bed was soft and sagged in the middle.

“Beautiful and great location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

Beautiful hotel with a great location. This hotel was new and had a great design for the room. We had a king room suite. I loved it! The only negative thing I would say is that the room we stayed in was noisy. I mean not from people per say but unexplained pinging/knocking type sounds. We slept with the fan on the second night and didn't really notice with the "white noise" background. I would still recommend this hotel wholeheartedly. We had great service as well as a nicely attended breakfast "bar". It was filled up each time we stopped by.
We don't have a high def TV at home so we enjoyed having one in the room and it also swiveled to the living area as well as to the bed.

“Business Trip on a Budget”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

You just never know what to expect from the mid-priced hotel chains. Some are shiny & new, some are clean but a little dated and some are just plain past their prime. This is the 3rd Springhill Suites brand hotel I've stayed in and I must say, they are consistently pleasant.

The room was clean, quiet & nicely decorated. The breakfast in the morning had sufficient variety for both protein and carb lovers alike..and hey, you can't beat free. Plus I LOVE the Chupa Chups at the front desk check-in -- greedy, I know, but I always take a handful and nobody seems to mind ;-)

Personally, I like a full-service hotel with a bar (nothing like a cocktail after a grueling day of driving!). However, I would recommend this hotel for travelers who have a higher standard, but find themselves traveling on a budget.

“Not the place to stay during Hurricane Irene!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

Husband, mom, and I stayed during hurricane irene. Before the hurricane this was a nice experience. We were in a new remodeled room. Toxins level was a little high. But I give them a 5 for their efforts. Fridge was not cold enough they did bring us another. Fridge does not have a freezer section. Breakfast was real nice until the power was lost during the storm. This hotel does not have a generator so not the place to stay when there is increment weather. Staff was very friendly. They were unwilling to give any discount or compensation for the lost of power. The power was lost for over nine hours before we left. We wanted to stay until check out but decide we would rather be in our own home with no electricity instead of a stuff hotel room. Breakfast was real sad the last morning. cereal with no milk, water with no ice. breads & muffins with peanut butter and jelly. during the outage, you have to walk down the stairway with your luggage. Hotel staff did help if you asked. But the hall way was dark the emergency lights did not last. They past out glow stick which proved only a very little illumination. Overall I believe we would return to this hotel but not during bad weather. I really feel they should considered getting a generator.

Room Tip: Plently of places to shop and eat. Great location for king Dominion

“Very nice!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2011

I've stayed here every Thanksgiving for the last 4 years (at least!) for early access to Black Friday shopping. The rooms are nice sized & very clean. They have free breakfast in the morning which is nice, not many places seem to do that anymore & they have a pretty decent selection of food. Quiet & nice! I'm actually getting ready to make a reservation for THIS Thanksgiving!

Room Tip: Reserve online & get extra pillows/towels/etc!
