Booked hotel through dogfriendly.com since I'm traveling with my two smallish dogs. Room is small small small for the money - tv is ancient - parking is difficult - tough to find the hotel as it's hidden behind trees. but mostly my reaction to this place is that it's dirty. Even the top of the tissue box is covered in dust. And the tissues have little chunks of wood in them. no shampoo no hairdryer. I can't remember the last time I stayed someplace where there wasn't a hairdryer and shampoo. We're traveling for the second time across country to California - and based on my experience here I will be rebooking to avoid staying at another Homestead Suites. Oh -and it's not a suite just a hotel room with a kitchen in the corner.

First time staying at this chain and loved it. One of the best hotel
stays I have ever had. The room suite was soooo nice and roomy, comfortable and clean. I felt like I was in an apt. And they offer free breakfast and dinner!!!! The food was great!
If you have wheat or gluten alleriges, you have to eat at Pizza Fusion, they have a delicious gluten free pizza, and they deliver too!

Pros: near mall & restaurants in decent part of town; clean rooms, pleasant staff
Cons: old, small, hard to find, inefficient service
When I say old, I mean bottom of tub was grey, although it was clean; beds were not lumpy but certainly not new. No shampoo & no hair dryer. Motel is off main street,so MAKE SURE YOU GET GREAT DIRECTIONS. Lights on sign were also out so we could not see it at night until we were right in front. Wasted at least 20 minutes, with stops at two gas stations, to find it. Can hear street traffic, trucks whizzing by, but other than traffic noise it was quiet. Problem was that I was charged twice for room: once by Expedia, then again by the hotel, even though they knew. Greatly annoying to me was the fact that it took THREE phone calls to resolve. First clerk said she would have to call me back. Another clerk called back, I explained the problem again, & was told manager would call me back. Never did, so I called the next day, & manager said she had not been told anything. Said she would resolve. Hope so. Regardless, I would not recommend this hotel unless you are stuck for a room and/or are not picky at all, because it is definitely no-frills & I can't recommend the service after the experience I had. But I will say they were pleasant enough, which is better than some...

We were in Richmond for the weekend for a soccer tournament and the hotel rate looked like a good value. It took a long time to check in, as the office and housekeeping was understaffed. We could not get the room we reserved, so they gave us two rooms, so they tried to make up for it. The rooms were nice, the beds were comfortable and they seemed clean.

You need to be aware, that while the rooms are a nice size and have a kitchen, they do not include things like shampoo in the bathrooms, just soap. There is also no onsite breakfast like you get at a Residence Inn or Springfield Suites. However, with the full kitchen, you can make your own breakfast. Bring your own coffee for the coffee maker.
