“Pleasant suprise at the end of the day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2009

This is what you dream a bed and breakfast would be like. After a long day riding our motorcycles across the state in the rain, Miss Emily's was a great surprise. Necia and Brian were not expecting four soggy riders, but helped us get out of our rain gear and relax with some homemade cookie and tea. What a way to end the day. Necia even helped me arrange a pick up with Fed Ex for some work I had emailed to them. Besides the great accommodations, Necia and Brian made for an enjoyable evening of conversation, that made for a perfect end to the day.
And now the best part. You wake up in the morning to soothing classical music and tea or coffee just outside your room. Breakfast in the sunroom puts things over the top. Fresh homemade everything, including and incredibly delicious juice that Necia squeezes up fresh with some secret ingredients. This place is worth going out of your way to stay at, and no I am not related to them.

“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2009

Beautiful restored home, tastefully decorated. Host and Hostess very warm and friendly, interesting to converse with, very eager to serve. The food was delicious and lovingly prepared and enticingly served. The atmosphere was peaceful and comforting. Only drawback was our inability to stay longer!!

“Absolutely Phenomenal!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2009

My wife and I are expecting our second child in a few months and decided to have one last weekend away while we still had the chance. We could not have dreamed up an experience better than the one we had at Miss Emily's. Ultra-accommodating, Brian and Necia made sure we had a relaxing, carefree stay filled with beautiful sounds, tranquil scenery, and exquisite food. No detail was left out, from the peaceful music upon waking to the chocolates and turndown service at night, and everything in between. As for the food, my limited vocabulary would not do it justice. Simply think "large portions of gourmet fare" and you will just begin to imagine what you'll receive when you stay here. All of the breads, pastries, sauces, and stocks are homemade, the produce is fresh from local growers, and the meats are free of nitrates and other additives. The house has been beautifully renovated, with all the charming nuances of older, man-made homes still intact, yet high-speed wi-fi and DirectTV are available for those who can't bear to be without their technological conveniences. Since there are only a few rooms available, the service was very personal and we never felt like we had to compete for it. When you break down the price and realize all you are getting (2 nights stay, 4 gourmet meals for 2, perpetual service), it's unbelievable how inexpensive it really is. The best B&B we've ever visited, and I fear Brian and Necia have made it extremely unlikely we'll ever try a different one in this half of Virginia again!

“Unsurpassed Attention to Detail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2009

We visited Miss Emily's over the 4th of July weekend to celebrate my husband's birthday. Necia and Brian prepared a special "English" dinner for my husband who is an English ex-pat. It far surpassed any of our expectations as it was amazing from start to finish. The balcony room was so comfortable with a lovely turn down service and water, fresh cookies and other treats available any time of day just outside our room. The serene location combined with charming hosts who took care of every detail really helped us relax and enjoy our stay.
