Never been to Cape Charles area. Found this motel on Tripadvisor and decided to give it a try. Ditto what everyone has said about the owner. I haven't met such a friendly guy in a really long time. It is very close to historic Cape Charles, Eastern Shore NWR and Kiptopeke SP. The setting is spectacular. I was travelling solo so I opted for a smaller room, which had 2 double beds, AC, TV, free wi-fi. Room had everything I need, actually more because I only needed one bed. I had a couple of briefs conversations with the owner, which were delightful. I will be staying here again. This beats a chain motel any day.

We have passed this motel many times but never had the opportunity to stay there until last saturday. The wooded location is very inviting and takes you back to an earlier time. Our room was neat, comfortable and clean. Enhancing the experience greatly is the very accomodating owner Bobby Rittenhouse. . A great person to sit and chat with, he has a great sense of humor and many excellent stories to tell. We even loved the office which is completely in tune with rest of the surroundings.
If you like staying in a comfortable 50's era motel with lots of character, this is the real deal and we loved it! We will be back!

Owner-Manager Bob Rittenhouse has made what might have been an ordinary old-style motel into a little paradise. The motel sits in a large landscaped area with little nooks of fern and azaelea gardens to walk or sit in. We opted for one of the larger rooms in the rear. It was HUGE, had a large flat-screen TV, comfortable beds, was very private, and very clean. There were windows on both sides of the room, as well as one in the bathroom. I love this place. There is no breakfast, but I usually don't eat that nasty glop at the chain hotels anyway.

I really liked the place as I drove in. Nice location.

The room was old and sad: sixties furniture, worn and frayed. Bed was clean, but the bath was horrible. Water leaked from around the base of the toilet when flushed. Makes it fun to stand there with toilet water leaking onto your bare feet. Fixtures 40 years old and in bad shape.

The owner was a nice guy, but the place was a 1 on a 1 to 5 scale. Wouldn't recommend it. Hope he fixes the place up, because the location is very pretty.
