My wife and I spent Memorial Day 2006 at Nottingham Ridge. This was our first B and B stay, so really did not know what to expect. We came to the area to visit a friend who had moved to the area a few months before. Our host, Bonnie was gracious and open. She allowed our friend to come over and visit with us on Friday eve and Sunday afternoon. We were very appreciative that we could relax and visit in a warm home setting. Her only request was that our friend not use the shower. Nottingham Ridge is located on a private beach. Apparently she had guests who had invited friends over and the whole crew had used her shower facilities. The breakfasts were wonderful. We had hot food every morning of our 3 day stay. I especially enjoyed the baked french toast and hot ham and cheese croissant. Breakfast was served with plenty of fresh friut. We had our choice of breakfast beverages. Bonnie also had a nice afternoon snack for the guests. We stayed in the only guest room on the first floor. There is a great view of the Chesapeake Bay. We had a private hallway with a private bath. Our room was simply appointed but very comfortable and clean. The bathroom had been completely remodeled and was clean and bright. The whole house was open to guests and there were plenty of places to curl up with a good book. There was a nice pantry and a refrigerator for guests use. We especially enjoyed the private beach and large well kept grounds.
Our only complaint was that the air conditioning had not been turned on for the season. Bonnie expalined that once she turns the air on she must leave it on for the entire season or humidity related problems can develop. There was a nice breeze most of the time and I am sure that there are many guests who enjoy that. The owner had provided a fan and guests can open the windows. The only unbearable times were in the heat of the day. There was a great screened porch with ceiling fans to cool you off. With the exception of the air conditioning we had a very pleasant and relaxing experience. I hope to spend more relaxing time in BandB's.
