(May 2011) Don’t even think about it. Recently I got stuck late in the day on Route #13 on Virginia’s Eastern Shore and decided to stay over at The Kiptopeke Inn. I’m more willing than most to suffer through a bad hotel room if the price is right -- but this one was EXPENSIVE. It was a weekday and there were very few guests, not much activity, and it felt much like the Bates Hotel. The quality of the room was poor. No telephone, no coffee, no hair dryer, nowhere to hang clothing, not even a washcloth. The tiny bar of soap on the sink was so old it crumbled in my hand when I unwrapped it. And … more! Stained carpeting, broken lampshades, smeared TV screen, no cable, fuzzy local channels, dirty shower curtain and a bathroom with bugs. The ice machine was locked up inside the lobby …. where a number of Kiptopeke employees were having a festive drinking party! If I had not been so tired and checked in after dark ….. I would have left with or without a refund. Believe me, when the sun came up, I was gone ………

We had read the reviews before reserving a couple nights and were a little anxious to see what had happened to the Inn we had frequented in the past. After checking in, which the staff were so helpful and pleasing, we walked around to see our room. For starters, the work that is currently going on has made an excellent improvement. The outside is looking great and we couldnt wait to jump into the pool! The rooms were in good condition and it was very obvious that Kiptopeke Inn is definately working to make them better. We're thinking of coming back next month and I'm sure I will be wow'd once more!

I was there last year and now. People, it's a new place. Will come again next month for sure!

I arrived late on a Friday night, had to call the night clerk by phone , they never answered so I rode to side of hotel they were coming around so I asked was he the clerk he said yes. He let me in I checked in got key went to room. Went to bathroom it was dirty I had some lysol so I sprayed it down. When I pulled the sheet back to get in bed the sheets was dirty , I pulled the other bed back it was ok. If it was not late I would have checked out and got my money back. I was glad I got a room with two beds. I told the front desk clerk the next morning I was going to stay two nights but stayed only one. I have stayed at the hotel other time it was ok but this time I had to make a complaint
