“Horrible Experice at Microtel, Bristol, VA”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

My husband and I stayed at Microtel, Bristol, Va on December 16th, 2011. I am handicapped and had requested a first floor room near the lobby, no smoking. When we arrived I was informed that I had to take a room on the third floor since they had a group of ball players there from a high school. I could have taken the elevator if it had been working. Instead I had to climb 3 flights of stairs using my cane. After 25 minutes I was able to reach the top. Once we arrived in the room we were shocked at the filth of the room. The carpet was soiled and ripped, the window seat had stains that I don't think could every come out. It needs to be replaced. The room smelled of cigarette smoke. Everything was dirty. We called the front desk to tell them the room was unsatisfactory. They offered us to go go another hotel. Of course I would have to climb down three flights of stairs again. We declined. The elevator did eventually get fixed but by that time I was totally exhausted and could not even contemplate leaving the room. We went to bed. Forget getting a good nights sleep. The pillows were like sleeping on bricks. I have to say this is the worst experience ever in a hotel.

“Great stop”

We enjoy stopping at Microtels on our annual trips across the eastern US. This one was great. We checked in late, at 11:30pm, with no issues, and both front desk clerks, in the evening and morning, were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was quiet and provided a surprisingly hearty breakfast, compared to other Microtels and similar inns at this price point, with toasted bagels, coffee, milk, cereal, muffins, and the like. The place was pretty cozy. My only complaint is that, even though we were in a non-smoking room, I had to adjust for the first five minutes - the room had clearly been used by smoking guests in the past. However, it was not too bad. The hotel is convenient to the highway and surrounded by breakfast options, as well. We will definitely stay here again. Easy, convenient, clean, and friendly! I love the Microtel!

“Good Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

This was our first stay at a Microtel, we just needed a place to sleep so we were looking for a clean hotel at a good price. When we arrived I must say the room was better and larger than I expected. I'll definately check out Microtel again. The contiental wasn't appealing so we didn't try it, from what I saw it was all prepackaged food. Ate breakfast at ChicFilA just doen the road.

“Very nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

Very nice accommodations. Close to several restaurants. Does not have an exercise room as some other Microtel hotels do.

“A very clean FRIENDLY hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

I used to be a regular guest in this motel with my job on the Railroad. I stayed there very regular since 2008 so I can safely tell you about the hotel and its staff. Let me start out by saying this place has CLEAN COMFORTABLE rooms. Abit they are a little small but that is where the name "microtel" comes inn. All microtels have this arrangement which is not really a problem, just something to be aware of. They do however have suites as well but the standard room in a microtel is "micro" but comfortable.

The staff at this property is absolutely AMAZING!! The general manager and Birdie the assistant manager truly care about the guests. I have been there on the occasion where Birdie has even brought cookies in for the guests. When I went to this hotel. I did not feel like I was going to a hotel, I felt like a guest in a good friend's house..

As far as amenities at this property, you have free wifi internet and if you dont have a computer they have one in the lobby with a printer. You get a nice breakfast, and there is an enclosed pool that is very nice.. Don't worry about hauling your grips up the stairs because this hotel has a VERY nice United/Thyssenkrupp Hydraulic elevator. If you are hungry? you are within walking distance of several restaurants and a Walmart.

In Conclusion, you will not be disappointed with your stay. Lastly if you see Birdie, tell her that dieselducy sent you.

Room Tip: All the rooms are nice, however I would recommend asking for a room facing away from interstate 81
