“Spectacular hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2010

If you're looking for a nice place to get away from the bustle, this is the place. We started our weekend at the Burwell-Morgan Mill - an active mill that's been around for over 200 years. The very friendly folks gave us a personal tour and we bought some wonderful stone-ground white-cornmeal.
We then took off on a nice ramble of a bicycle ride, and arrived at the B&B shortly after 5PM, where we were greeted before we even got out of our car. We stayed in a beautiful room with a huge jacuzzi, enjoyed a lovely dinner at a local french restaurant, and had a wonderful breakfast the next morning before heading out to Sky Meadows State Park for a nice hike.
I've stayed in many B&B's and this is the first review I've ever written, because the hostess was so warm and inviting I felt more like I was visiting a close friend, not staying in a B&B. It was a great weekend.

“Lovely experience. Will come again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2010

Husband and I enjoyed staying here for 2 nights over Thanksgiving. The Virginia room is a tad expensive but worth it as the room and bathroom are so large. We enjoyed the jacuzzi tub (there is a shower also) and the innkeeper's wonderful breakfasts and personality. We are not dog people and her dog, Serious, was very mellow and well behaved so we enjoyed having him around. He is trained not to go in the dining room when people are there! We felt very at home here. It is nicely decorated but too cute like some B&B's can be. Can recommend Sunset Hills winetasting and hiking at Bear Run, both less than 20 minutes away. Dinner at One Block West in Winchester was very good also.

“Kindness and Hospitality A+”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2010

A trip to this beautiful 125 year old house with the drive down Route 7 was just stunning. Sand and Sirius, her VP of Hospitality, meet you at the door and make you welcomed. The room was very clean; we had a bathroom in our room spacious with a whirl pool, very nice after going out all day and seeing the sights. Sandy and Sirius are so kind and friendly you want to just stay and talk. I read one of the other reviews stating there was nothing to do close to the Lost Dog, they must have been on foot walking everywhere. We had so many choices of things to do we had a hard time deciding. I would highly recommend The Lost Dog to anyone.

“Awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2010

My husband and I stayed at The Lost Dog B&B for 2 nights. Sandy was great-she made us feel at home and so welcome. We went into Washington DC for a day during our stay. She gave us great tips for getting around the DC area which were very helpful. She accommodated different breakfast schedules with grace. We went into nearby Winchester on our anniversary to a wonderful Italian restaurant: Violino's. The best of all was Sirius the labradoodle. He greeted us when we first came and he was a joy to be around. Thanks Sandy for everything. Leslie and Gary.

“A relaxing getaway in beautiful surroundings”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2010

On a 100-degree Saturday morning in DC, my husband and I decided we needed a mini-getaway. He found the Lost Dog on the internet and amazingly, they had a room available for the evening so we booked it. It was a 2-hour drive by scenic route (no highways) but probably would have been an hour on the highway from DC. The house is charming and the surrounding gardens are beautiful. The innkeeper's attention to detail is obvious, and I liked that the rooms were large with very large bathrooms, uncommon for a B&B in my experience. We had dinner on Saturday night in nearby Winchester and spent Sunday morning in Harper's Ferry, so there are plenty of sites nearby. The house dog is well-behaved and friendly, and no cats (a plus for me as I am allergic). The included breakfast was fantastic - fresh fruit with granola and yogurt, fresh-baked biscuits, vegetable frittatas with sausage, plus juice and tea (and coffee if you drink it). I highly recommend this place for a relaxing, romantic getaway.
