“Great place for families & dogs, too!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2011

We stayed at the Inn the night before we picked up our puppy. The whole family (including our 4 year old dog) stayed comfortably in one room and had our own private bathroom. Sandy was definitely the hostess with the mostest! She went out of her way to make sure my kids (9 & 13) and dog were comfortable and happy. She even fixed them a very special breakfast, including a fun treat to encourage my picky eater to eat her fruit! We had a fabulous dinner at the Battletown Inn down the street! Sandy suggested we eat on the patio so we could take the dog along. We would highly recommend a visit to the Inn, especially if you're a dog lover!

“My home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2011

I stay at the Lost Dog every few months for business and if it were closer to where I live, I’d visit for personal pleasure as well. I've now stayed at the Lost Dog a few dozen times. I've even brought my family to visit Sandy when we were driving through the area. She is absolutely a gem of a person and I consider her part dear friend, part family at this point.
I've stayed in Leesburg and Winchester before, but now call Berryville my home away from home. The city is gorgeous and very historic. I can walk to several fantastic places to eat including “Focaccia Italian Grill” which has killer salmon; “The Berryville Grille” which has all kinds of great food; “Camino Real” which has very good Mexican food; and “Mario's Pizza” which has very good Italian food and pizza. All of these are within a 5 minute walk, and there are other places that are good such as the Battletown Inn, Subway, and Knosos Café, and a Chinese restaurant. Plenty of great choices to choose from and it’s all very close.
For breakfast – Sandy works her magic every day with delicious breakfast staples like eggs, potatoes and bacon, but also fruits, yogurt, juices, and of course fresh coffee.
I love the house and find it to be a mixture of a house from the 1800’s met with the amenities of our day – wireless network, cable TV, radio, warm shower, etc.
Finally, Berryville is a great place to stay and is like entering a real-life Brigadoon with its small town charm. The Appalachian Trail is nearby, as are a lot of historic places to visit.

“Spectacular hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2010

If you're looking for a nice place to get away from the bustle, this is the place. We started our weekend at the Burwell-Morgan Mill - an active mill that's been around for over 200 years. The very friendly folks gave us a personal tour and we bought some wonderful stone-ground white-cornmeal.
We then took off on a nice ramble of a bicycle ride, and arrived at the B&B shortly after 5PM, where we were greeted before we even got out of our car. We stayed in a beautiful room with a huge jacuzzi, enjoyed a lovely dinner at a local french restaurant, and had a wonderful breakfast the next morning before heading out to Sky Meadows State Park for a nice hike.
I've stayed in many B&B's and this is the first review I've ever written, because the hostess was so warm and inviting I felt more like I was visiting a close friend, not staying in a B&B. It was a great weekend.

“Lovely experience. Will come again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2010

Husband and I enjoyed staying here for 2 nights over Thanksgiving. The Virginia room is a tad expensive but worth it as the room and bathroom are so large. We enjoyed the jacuzzi tub (there is a shower also) and the innkeeper's wonderful breakfasts and personality. We are not dog people and her dog, Serious, was very mellow and well behaved so we enjoyed having him around. He is trained not to go in the dining room when people are there! We felt very at home here. It is nicely decorated but too cute like some B&B's can be. Can recommend Sunset Hills winetasting and hiking at Bear Run, both less than 20 minutes away. Dinner at One Block West in Winchester was very good also.

“Kindness and Hospitality A+”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2010

A trip to this beautiful 125 year old house with the drive down Route 7 was just stunning. Sand and Sirius, her VP of Hospitality, meet you at the door and make you welcomed. The room was very clean; we had a bathroom in our room spacious with a whirl pool, very nice after going out all day and seeing the sights. Sandy and Sirius are so kind and friendly you want to just stay and talk. I read one of the other reviews stating there was nothing to do close to the Lost Dog, they must have been on foot walking everywhere. We had so many choices of things to do we had a hard time deciding. I would highly recommend The Lost Dog to anyone.
