I stay at the Lost Dog every few months for business and if it were closer to where I live, I’d visit for personal pleasure as well. I've now stayed at the Lost Dog a few dozen times. I've even brought my family to visit Sandy when we were driving through the area. She is absolutely a gem of a person and I consider her part dear friend, part family at this point.
I've stayed in Leesburg and Winchester before, but now call Berryville my home away from home. The city is gorgeous and very historic. I can walk to several fantastic places to eat including “Focaccia Italian Grill” which has killer salmon; “The Berryville Grille” which has all kinds of great food; “Camino Real” which has very good Mexican food; and “Mario's Pizza” which has very good Italian food and pizza. All of these are within a 5 minute walk, and there are other places that are good such as the Battletown Inn, Subway, and Knosos Café, and a Chinese restaurant. Plenty of great choices to choose from and it’s all very close.
For breakfast – Sandy works her magic every day with delicious breakfast staples like eggs, potatoes and bacon, but also fruits, yogurt, juices, and of course fresh coffee.
I love the house and find it to be a mixture of a house from the 1800’s met with the amenities of our day – wireless network, cable TV, radio, warm shower, etc.
Finally, Berryville is a great place to stay and is like entering a real-life Brigadoon with its small town charm. The Appalachian Trail is nearby, as are a lot of historic places to visit.
