“A good stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Having read some of the reviews, I was a little concerned, as I was hoping for a restful stay. The nice thing about the hotel was that it felt like it was out in the woods, but you were very close to shopping and civilization (literally a one minute drive to Starbucks, Marshalls, Shaws, Bed Bath & Beyond, Movie Theatre, etc.).

It was a pleasant room, clean, didn't seem old (at least not based on the complaints on the hotel). I got a room on the top floor. Noise -both inside and out (as there was a somewhat busy road nearby) was minimal. Breakfast buffet was not included in the hotel stay, but that was ok since I got a good deal via Priceline. Wi-fi was free in the rooms (which was a tad slow on my iPhone at peak hours).

The bed felt like it was a memory foam type thing, but I never looked to confirm. I managed to get some sleep nevertheless (ofcourse it doesn't help to have coffee 2 hours before bed!).

All in all a good stay, and I would return again without hesitation.

Room Tip: Top floor is ideal!

“Very good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

Stayed here for one night on business. Location is great- literally one minute off I-89. Upon arrival with my two colleagues, the woman at the front desk was able to check me in but couldn't check in the other two. Se said her computers were frozen and there was nothing she could do. Luckily we were headed to dinner and didn't need to get into all 3 rooms immediately.
The rooms are pretty good and clean ut the furniture, especially the tv cabinets, are old, worn, beat up, and need to be replaced.
Breakfast is not included and was 5.95 for the continental and 8.95 for the full buffet. Again-just ok. Undercooked potatoes and runny eggs.
Not many complaints overall and I'd definitey stay here again.

I appreciate your candid comments regarding your recent stay with us. I'm glad that our location and services met your needs. Computer difficulties are rare, although it appears there was a delay in getting your collegues checked in I do apologize for that. I understand that you found some opportunities for improvement with our breakfast as well and you may be happy to hear that we have made some changes. We are now offering a variety of different egg selections on our buffet in addition to corned beef hash, crisper potatoes and breakfast sandwiches. Hopefully you will have a chance to stay with us again and give breakfast another try.

Thank you again,

Shannon Moore

“Nice location & Good Price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

The location is just a throw away from the main highway and from the shopping areas of Taft Corners. The front desk was convivial and welcoming. The room was clean. The bed a little soft for my liking. Keurig coffee makers in the room.

Oddly enough, you need a password to connect on the wired Internet in your room, but not password to connect on the wireless... what's the point?

As usual with many large properties, high definition TVs but no actual high definition signals. Not a complaint, but just mentioning it.

“Not our first visit; not my first review”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

We come up to Burlington a couple of times a year on business and stay at various the Marriott properties in the area, so this is not our first visit to the hotel. I like the hotel for the most part. It is convenient. There are restaurants close by. It's not far from the downtown area. The hotel is well-maintained and the rooms are clean.

However, we had an experience this time worth reporting. Call it a learning experience. As we checked in, I noticed someone smoking on the balcony but I didn't take the hint. We were given a balcony room and because of the nice weather, we actually used it and the room was great until the middle of the second night. The person in the room above was a smoker and he was in and out through the balcony door multiple times during the night. The sound-proofing in this hotel is non-existent (as has been commented in previous reviews) and even with the fan running in our room to help block out the noise, every time our upstairs neighbor got out of bed, plodded to the balcony door, opened it, closed it and then opened it and closed it again a few minutes later, we heard it. We would have reported it but did not want to wake up enough to find the phone.

Next time, we know to ask for a third floor room (so we can disturb the people below us) and away from the balconied rooms.

In the meantime, maybe Marriott will beef up its 'no-smoking' policy to include the balconies or replace the doors with something that doesn't make noise in the adjacent rooms every time it opens.

Room Tip: DON'T ASK FOR A BALCONY ROOM or a room near them. The balcony doors are very loud and can be hea...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking to time to comment on your recent stay wth us. I am happy to hear you are a returning guest, we thank you for choosing us as your hotel of choice in Burlington. I did make note of your suggestion regarding the noise from the balcony above your room. There may be some things we can do to minimize the noise factor to adjacent rooms from the sliding doors. Although we are a smoke free environment and we discourage smoking on our balconies, it is a challenge to enforce.

Thank you again for your comments,
Shannon

“Cutting corners .......”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011 via mobile

The hotel is the typical Marriott at first glance. But I found the management is definitely cutting corners and ignoring the details. The brick and mortar was fine but the replaceable items is where it went down hill. Plus it was obvious their maintenance crew is not into the details of their job.

1. The sheets were too small or shrunk that were on our beds.
2. The heater made so much noise you couldn't sleep.
3. Screws holding door in stuck and ended up cutting my hand
4. Sheets were ripped on both beds
5. Beds were worn and had no support.

Over all I was not impressed. I would only stay here again if I couldn't get a room at the other marriotts.
