“Beautiful setting, great hosts, perfect for many ski resorts”

Wonderful, intended to be 1 night be extended another night.
Only came across it by chance and typical Vermont kindness.
I arrived midday in New Jersey off a trans-atlantic flight and intended to drive as far North as possible to the bigger ski resorts before tiredness set in.
Made it to Londonderry, VT, where I asked a lady about motels, she said Colonial, then came back and said follow me, it's only a few miles off my route.
Arrived, Jeff offered $60 for the night with breakfast.
Lovely room in main part of inn, period décor.
The hosts Jeff and Kim could not be kinder and more friendly. They have a phone for local calls, but offered me a call to Texas to inform waiting family that I was safe.
Breakfast was really nice - proper Vermont Fresh and local.
Wireless internet and a PC for those without.
Living room has tea, coffee and homemade cookies.
Perfectly located for several Vermont ski areas, so in he morning it was a case of checking out which had the snow - I went to Okemo, very, very good. Would love to ahve skiied magic Mountain, but it did not have enough snow (This was December).
The other bonus was the wonderfully friendly and interesting guests, and Weston village is just so new England cute and friendly.
A great place for anyone, but if you are a visitor from outside USA, this is a great place to enjoy the marvellous American B & B experience without breaking the bank :)

Room Tip: Rooms in the main inn are cute, with shared bathroom, all top quality, but does involve traditional...

Went here for my 21st birthday. Had a great time, very close to town, friendly service, great breakfast, rooms were clean and comfortable. Nice change from a hotel, met new people and had great after dinner conversations by the fire! Community sitting area with coffee and cookies, very welcoming! I can't wait to go back :)

“Even better than Family”

Our annual trip to Vermont, to honor & visit the Benedictine Monks of Weston Priory, begins and ends with truly wonderful lodging @ The Colonial House Inn & Motel. This bed-'n-breakfast "home", located on Route 100, is surrounded by gorgeous Green Mountains, farmlands and many homegrown vegetables & fruit.
Jeff & Kim have become our Vermont "family", as well as the annual visitors we encounter and hold dear. Their home-style atmosphere reflects their enjoyment of the consumers they serve.
Jeff is a learned chef, whose breakfasts are totally delicious and nutritious. Various choices on the menu alternate daily, but your own preference is never denied.
Dinners are available on various evenings, and those offerings give the travelers choices to satisfy their tastes. Once again the food are not only delightful but extremely delicate.
Don't miss your opportunity to share a piece of Vermont Heaven, even for only a few days'nights.

Room Tip: Rooms are available in the Motel or Inn section.

“Charming, Family-owned and operated Motel-Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

I've spent one or two nights here for each of the last four or five Julys. It's a pleasure to spend my money on a family-owned business, rather than a mega-chain motel. The business is a labor of love for this family.

I personally prefer the Motel rooms rather than the cheaper Inn accommodations, but that's a matter of personal preference. I prefer a private bathroom, for example. Some people might find the motel rooms to be too knotty-pine or dated-looking, but it's real pine! And the showers are brand-new Fiberglas models. The rooms are smaller than at a Holiday Inn. I always tip when I leave because the staff members are charming and the rooms well-kept.

The included breakfast is superb, with different dishes available each day of the week. I'm pretty sure you can order anything you want, but I enjoy each day's featured menu. (Juice or fruit, a fruit bread, a hot cereal, an egg dish, and pancakes of one kind or another.) There's a guest refrigerator/freezer in the main building (for your Vermont cheese purchases, or your picnic), near the central ice machine. WiFi is free. There are home-baked cookies and lemonade each afternoon. The front and back yards are peaceful places for resting or reading between excursions.

Many guests here are visiting either the (Benedictine) Priory (10 minutes), or the Weston Playhouse Theater Company (5 minutes). Others are parents of the local Kinhaven (not to be confused with Marlboro Music Festival ...) summer music school students, or on the cheese trail (Taylor Farms and Woodcock Farms are very close by.) There are lots of other things to do in Southern Vermont.

Remember that there is very little air conditioning in Vermont, because it is seldom needed. Most Vermont rooms come with a stand or table fan, as they do at the Colonial House. I've had the bad luck to pick some of the few hot weekends in the last few years, but I don't blame The Colonial House. In fact, my motel room was well insulated, and cooler than outside for most of the day.

Their website lists availability, but you should telephone them to book your room. I believe you cannot book online. Even on weekdays, sellouts are common in the summer. I suppose the same is true during ski season weekends, but I've never been there in the Winter.

Room Tip: I prefer the rear motel rooms 2-4-6 because you sleep with the windows open.

“Stay spoiled by political views of owners”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

Weston, Vermont is a quaint little Vermont town. We decided to stay there because we want to visit the Vermont Country Store. The place was more of a motel than an inn, but the rooms were clean and the blackberry, pancakes were wonderful. However, a sign on the TV in the main house caught our eyes. It said something to the effect that "No Fox TV Allowed". It is unfortunate that the owners felt that they have to dictate the political views of others - perhaps they meant it as a joke, but we found it offensive and when we visit Weston again - as we plan to do - we'll stay at one of the gorgeous B&Bs in the middle of town.
