I have been bringing my group, the Jewish Outdoors Club, to the Gray Ghost for many years now. A review is long overdue. The Gray Ghost is absolutely perfect for groups. Unlike many other B and B's it has many rooms, most with at least two beds each, so singles don't need to share beds. It makes for a great singles retreat, or family gathering. The common area is perfect for casual socializing, and people stayed up late playing board games, watching TV, or sitting by the fireplace. The game room downstairs has ping pong, pool, video games, and another large TV. The hot tub was a hit till the wee hours of the morning.
Moreover, I cannot say enough about the innkeepers, Magnus and Carina. Simply put, they bend over backwards to make their guests happy. After the big snowstorm that hit a few days ago, we all came back to our cars to find that Magnus had lifted our wipers up, so they wouldn't get iced down. We had a stuffed toilet on Saturday. Magnus didn’t just hand me a plunger – he did it himself. Carina drove our guests without cars to the ski rental place a mile away, so they can save money and not have to rent at the mountain.
And yesterday, as we were running late to a snowmobiling appointment, we discovered our car had a dead battery. Carina lent us her car for 3 hours. What innkeeper does that?
Suffice it to say that my group has been coming here nearly every year for about 10 years because the rooms are great, the layout is perfect for socializing, and the innkeepers are true gems. I’ve already booked them for Christmas week in 2011.
