“Warm and cozy”

We only stayed here one night because we had already booked another inn. We decided we wanted to come into town early and get out for some skiing earlier. The couple that runs this inn were so nice and accommodating. We got into town at almost 11pm and they were waiting with a smile. The room was comfortable and breakfast was great! My only regret was that we didn't say here all three nights. This place had a homey, warm feel.

“Incredible hospitality and genuine warmth, all at an affordable price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2011

Although I travel to Vermont at least 2-3 times a year, I hadn't been to the Mount Snow Region in quite some time, and hadn't stayed in the area since the early 1990s. I just got back into skiing, and chose the Gray Ghost, primarily, because of price. It is a "bargain!" I had read the reviews about the hospitality here, and hoped it would live up to the expectations the reviews had set. In short, it did!

While the rooms are definitely "lodge-style," with somewhat minimal amenities (no phone, no television, no clock, no cups, etc) compared to current-day-hotels, the room was nonetheless comfortable and clean. I wasn't there to spend time in the room, and noticed that most guests were also happy to gather in either the large living room with a crackling fire going, or in the outdoor heated hot tub. I opted for both -- and really enjoyed the outdoor hot tub with the crystal clear air and nice hot water.

The hospitality provided by the hosts was nothing short of "outstanding," and as a hospitality professional myself, I wish there were more people like the two owners/hosts in our industry. They made everyone feel very welcome and truly at-home, going out of their way to provide personal service to every guest.

I would strongly recommend the Gray Ghost if your travels take you to the Mount Snow Region. Don't expect 4-star room accommodations -- that's not what these lodges are all about -- but do expect 4-star hospitality. You'll want to come back again, as do I.

“Does your innkeeper do this?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2010

I have been bringing my group, the Jewish Outdoors Club, to the Gray Ghost for many years now. A review is long overdue. The Gray Ghost is absolutely perfect for groups. Unlike many other B and B's it has many rooms, most with at least two beds each, so singles don't need to share beds. It makes for a great singles retreat, or family gathering. The common area is perfect for casual socializing, and people stayed up late playing board games, watching TV, or sitting by the fireplace. The game room downstairs has ping pong, pool, video games, and another large TV. The hot tub was a hit till the wee hours of the morning.
Moreover, I cannot say enough about the innkeepers, Magnus and Carina. Simply put, they bend over backwards to make their guests happy. After the big snowstorm that hit a few days ago, we all came back to our cars to find that Magnus had lifted our wipers up, so they wouldn't get iced down. We had a stuffed toilet on Saturday. Magnus didn’t just hand me a plunger – he did it himself. Carina drove our guests without cars to the ski rental place a mile away, so they can save money and not have to rent at the mountain.
And yesterday, as we were running late to a snowmobiling appointment, we discovered our car had a dead battery. Carina lent us her car for 3 hours. What innkeeper does that?
Suffice it to say that my group has been coming here nearly every year for about 10 years because the rooms are great, the layout is perfect for socializing, and the innkeepers are true gems. I’ve already booked them for Christmas week in 2011.

“recharging station”

Upon arrival at the Gray Ghost Inn, I was a bit worn after my 400 mile Harley ride from Millinocket, Maine. I was quickly registered and shown to my very comfortable room. I had time to hit the pool, and relax in the hot tub before heading out for dinner. A very nice restaurant, just down the road was recommended by the Inn Keepers. I returned to the Inn, to join several of the other guests sitting around a nice camp fire in the fire pit. Had a drink, and enjoyed conversation with these former strangers before turning in for the night. Comfortable bed, quiet room...slept like a rock! With some 600 miles left to get home, I wanted to leave early. The Inn Keeper accommodated me by getting up to make my breakfast before the scheduled time! I was rested and ready to ride...made it home before dark!! I will return to the Gray Ghost Inn.
