“Absolutely Horrible”

The Matterhorn Inn in West Dover Vermont was with out a doubt the worst place I have ever stayed. The management/owners were incerdibly rude and unhelpful, the rooms were in complete and total disrepair. Nothing worked; broken windows, broken furniture, no hot water and a bed that listed worse than the Titanic. The room price was extremely expensive considering you received absolutely nothing for your money. They also attempt to charge a gratuity to their customers and were furious when I asked them to remove it. My best advice - STAY AWAY!!!!

“Not so hot”

We arrived at the Inn and were told that the “suite” we had reserved was no longer available due to the previous traveler not checking out, and was then given another room. Upon getting to our room the door to the suite that we had reserved was open and lo and behold the room was empty and ready for the next visitors. We went back to the desk and only after threatening to cancel our Visa and write a bad review on TripAdvisor did they move us into the room that was promised. Once in the room we discovered that the windows did not lock and the majority of the draws in the dresser were broken and unusable, I had to place my clothes on the sofa due to lack of space. The bed was tilted at a downward angle and every move created a loud squeaking that made it tough to sleep. The shower had terrible water pressure and the hot water was luke warm.
There was also a gratuity that was added to the bill, when we asked what this was for we were told it was for the privilege of staying at the Inn, they did however waive this.
This might be a great place after a day on the slopes but all in all I would not recommend this Inn and was dissatisfied

“The best hospitality I've ever experienced”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

This place rocks. Walk into the Inn and go straight into the 'Great Room' with high ceilings, comfortable couches and a large fieldstone fireplace. Note the life size camel in the loft! Right off of there is the bar and on the other side the restaurant. Saturdays is their buffet night and the food was spectacular. But the best part of the place is that you feel at home. You're likely to be on a first name basis with the staff which are a close Polish family; Andrew, the son on the bar, Wanda, the mum is the host and Joe, the head of the family is always milling around making sure everyone is happy. It's a definite must see and if you're looking to stay, the hotel is less than 2 miles from Mount Snow and on the free shuttle route. It's also on the snowmobile trails and has a large enough parking lot for your trailer.

“a home oway from home because of the owners who treat you like family who is there to visit.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2010

Atmosphere is verything but old world hospitality defeats the new age customer service. The owners dint take a course on dealing with guests from the Ritz, they brought it from a Eauropean home. The amenities are there , entertainment is there . The rooms are clean. You can relax or explore the area.

“5 star it ain't......”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2010

....but it ain't bad. Seriously. We had a great time at the Matterhorn Inn. Keep in mind that we like funky and we like fun. It had both. The host and hostess were very pleasant, the bar and great room with a roaring fire on a freezing cold night (complete with dog) was so inviting, the prices were reasonable for being 2 miles from Mt. Snow, and the staff was charming and fun.
This family is obviously trying very hard to upgrade an old wood frame hotel. The room and bath had been recently renovated. It was comfy and warm. Bookshelves filled with a vast assortment of books along one wall. New mattress. Comfortable and clean.
We didn't eat at the Inn but people I talked to at Mt. Snow all raved about the food there.
All in all a great experience for us.
