I'd heard about the Matterhorn Inn from friends who've spent time in the area, so when I decided to extend my day trip to the Blueberry Festival into overnight stay, I contacted the inn to see if they had rooms available. Wanda, who owns the Inn along with her husband, Joe, told me to come on over.
On arrival I was warmly greeted by Wanda and Joe, and promptly checked in. My room was clean and comfortable--just what I needed and expected. I later learned that the bathroom in my room had recently been renovated. I particularly liked the new sink and vanity, which had lots of space for me to stow my toiletries and hair dryer/brushes.
That evening I enjoyed a drink at the bar before taking advantage of the buffet dinner in the restaurant. Andrew, my bartender and Wanda and Joe's son, served me a delicious "blueberry" martini and made sure that I didn't have to wait for a refill. Dinner in the restaurant was absolutely delicious, and Bo, my server, was friendly and attentive.
I love the public areas of the Inn. Outside, behind the Inn, there are a number of seating areas beside the lovely brook. Inside, the great room and bar are just so comfortable and homey, I could spend hours here! It was too warm to have a fire going in the gorgeous, fieldstone fireplace, but I can only imagine how wonderful it would be on a snowy winter's day.
But my absolute favorite thing about the Inn are owners, Joe, Wanda, and Andrew. From the moment you arrive, they go above and beyond to make sure that all your needs are met, and by the time you leave you feel like you've become a part of their family. I've never met Innkeepers who were so warm and caring before! I will definitely be back the next time I'm in the area!
