“Basic Room but It's Just Like home!”

I went there in early Summer and the room is just to sleep in just like hotels in Europe. Owned by a family and by the time you leave you are one of them. The food was great! Watch out for Tuckermen he may lick you!"House Dog" Yes you can bring your dog as well. Lots to do in the area or just chill out. Will return soon!

Room Tip: Room that looks out to stream

“Home away from home!”

I'd heard about the Matterhorn Inn from friends who've spent time in the area, so when I decided to extend my day trip to the Blueberry Festival into overnight stay, I contacted the inn to see if they had rooms available. Wanda, who owns the Inn along with her husband, Joe, told me to come on over.

On arrival I was warmly greeted by Wanda and Joe, and promptly checked in. My room was clean and comfortable--just what I needed and expected. I later learned that the bathroom in my room had recently been renovated. I particularly liked the new sink and vanity, which had lots of space for me to stow my toiletries and hair dryer/brushes.

That evening I enjoyed a drink at the bar before taking advantage of the buffet dinner in the restaurant. Andrew, my bartender and Wanda and Joe's son, served me a delicious "blueberry" martini and made sure that I didn't have to wait for a refill. Dinner in the restaurant was absolutely delicious, and Bo, my server, was friendly and attentive.

I love the public areas of the Inn. Outside, behind the Inn, there are a number of seating areas beside the lovely brook. Inside, the great room and bar are just so comfortable and homey, I could spend hours here! It was too warm to have a fire going in the gorgeous, fieldstone fireplace, but I can only imagine how wonderful it would be on a snowy winter's day.

But my absolute favorite thing about the Inn are owners, Joe, Wanda, and Andrew. From the moment you arrive, they go above and beyond to make sure that all your needs are met, and by the time you leave you feel like you've become a part of their family. I've never met Innkeepers who were so warm and caring before! I will definitely be back the next time I'm in the area!

“Bare Bones Basic but great common area”

This place had some pluses and negatives. The pluses - Very convenient to Ski Area, Excellent breakfast buffet, Onsite dining was good but overpriced, The Common Room with Cathedral ceiling and bar area was great for hanging out. A wonderful fireplace and comfy couches. Our room was OK. It was one of the newly refinished rooms. It was clean but small. There was a door that opened to the outside, where there is a brook. In the summer, this would have been nice, but there wasn't a screen on the door. And there were no windows. So if you stayed there during the summer it would be the AC or nothing at all (you wouldn't be able to hear the babbling brook). We traveled with another family. 4 of them stayed in the room with two double beds. Way too crowded. It was an older room and smelled very musty. Breakfast was tasty and filling. We had dinner which was an all-you-could-eat Polish Buffet. The food was good, but I thought overpriced. I've stayed at much nicer places in ski area's for 1/3 less the cost.

Room Tip: Newly renovated section, facing the back (brook)

“Absolutely Horrible”

The Matterhorn Inn in West Dover Vermont was with out a doubt the worst place I have ever stayed. The management/owners were incerdibly rude and unhelpful, the rooms were in complete and total disrepair. Nothing worked; broken windows, broken furniture, no hot water and a bed that listed worse than the Titanic. The room price was extremely expensive considering you received absolutely nothing for your money. They also attempt to charge a gratuity to their customers and were furious when I asked them to remove it. My best advice - STAY AWAY!!!!

“Not so hot”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2010

We arrived at the Inn and were told that the “suite” we had reserved was no longer available due to the previous traveler not checking out, and was then given another room. Upon getting to our room the door to the suite that we had reserved was open and lo and behold the room was empty and ready for the next visitors. We went back to the desk and only after threatening to cancel our Visa and write a bad review on TripAdvisor did they move us into the room that was promised. Once in the room we discovered that the windows did not lock and the majority of the draws in the dresser were broken and unusable, I had to place my clothes on the sofa due to lack of space. The bed was tilted at a downward angle and every move created a loud squeaking that made it tough to sleep. The shower had terrible water pressure and the hot water was luke warm.
There was also a gratuity that was added to the bill, when we asked what this was for we were told it was for the privilege of staying at the Inn, they did however waive this.
This might be a great place after a day on the slopes but all in all I would not recommend this Inn and was dissatisfied
