“A great spot. Convenient, comfortable, easy going, clean.”

We stayed at the Grand Summit for the first time for an overnight during the week. It was easy to get to and we had a great time. Other than the great skiing, the highlight was swimming in the outdoor heated pool and hot tub at night in February - the kids (ages 11 & 15) got a big kick out of that (so did we!).

We stayed in a studio room overlooking the mountain. It was clean and neat, with a Murphy bed (which was surprisingly comfortable) and a pull out couch, which was fine for the four of us. It had a kitchenette, (which we didn't really use, but it would be nice if we were staying a little longer). The bathroom was nice (and I'm a stickler on that) with an additional sink outside of the bathroom.

We ate at the restaurant right in the hotel and the food was good and reasonable priced. We also got breakfast coupons and ate at the Vermont deli right at the hotel in the morning and the breakfast was excellent. Omelets, scrambled platters, pancakes, plus the sides and a drink were all included.

Because it was during the week, the rates were better and it wasn't busy. I am sure that weekends and holidays are a different story. I would recommend this spot - and we loved the convenience - we could drop our bags and skis, and didn't have to go out for anything. We'll be back there again soon and stay for longer!

Room Tip: Ask about which side of the mountain your room is facing. An upper level room avoids the foot noises...

“Great Resort on a Quality Mountain”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012 via mobile

I have been going to Mt Snow for 12 years, and every year they have tried to incorporate new improvements. This year they brought on a new chef and we had some of the best meals on resort in the past 12 years we have been going.

Their work on the mountain is terrific. Even after a very rainy Friday, we had an enjoyable day on the slopes Saturday.

It has been a rough year with the terrible flooding in the late summer and lack of natural snow this winter. Anyone that enjoys skiing should make a weekend trip to Mt Snow and spend some money in the local shops.

Great stay, looking forward to 2013.

“Very nice and So convenient to the base area. Great for kids.”

We have stayed here many times. Great location for families. Right at the base of the mountain and close to all lifts, rentals etc. Great pool and work out room as well. Spa and yoga are also very good. Food...OK...but some of the smaller places in town are better. Also..it can be a bit noisy if the hotel is full as many families do use this location.

Room Tip: Get the slopeside view...

“Great Location - Basic Accomodations - Needs Hooks”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

After staying at a few other "Grand Summit" slope-side hotels I thought I knew what to expect. But the Mount Snow Grand Summit is older and more like basic ski accommodations. The restaurant in the restaurant is passable, but stick to the burgers. This is a solid basic ski accommodation. The walls are paper thin - so expect to be annoyed if you are an early sleeper (like we are - we are here to ski - not to party).

The location is great, the staff is great, but dont expect luxury. If you know the Kaaatskill Mountain hotel at Hunter Mountain...this is no where near the luxury of that.

The paper thin walls and floors were a minor annoyance...but the major reason why I would give this place 2 starts instead of three is something that sounds really stupid...but soooooooo annoying. Ski accommodations need hooks. A two person room should have at least 6 hooks and a four person room should have 12 hooks. Ski gear hangs on hooks. That is the way it works. ALL SKI HOTELS MUST HAVE HOOKS...Unfortunately the Mt Snow Summit Grand Hotel has no hooks in the rooms...a major annoyance...I know it sounds petty. But the fact that they don't have hooks shows that they just don't get it..they don't understand how skiers live. I am sure all the real skiers can relate..hooks are all we need in a room.

Room Tip: try to get a room that does not have adjoining rooms

“Grand Summit New Years Party”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

Just attended a New Years Party at the Grand Summit .... worst event I ever attended. This party started at 10pm; there was an earlier dinner buffet party in the room that this party was being held. when we arrived the room had not been cleaned and reset, dirty dishes ,glasses leftover food on all the tables. The light food for this second party was leftover hor'devores, cake , coffee and some soft drinks!!
No party favors were given and after awhile the staff let anyone in ; no longer checking who payed and who didn't.

The only good thing was that we could leave at midnight as we were not stay at the hotel; could only imagine how bad my stay would have been based on this one event!!

Melissa Bush, Guest Relations Manager at Grand Summit Resort Hotel at Mount Snow, responded to this review

This was the first year we hosted the New Years Celebration (after party; from 10pm-12am), and we agree, we have plenty of room for improvement! Our intention was to allow guests into the First Night Family Celebration after families with small children retired for the evening. We wanted guests to be able to enjoy the band and a champagne toast at midnight with party favors. Adults were required to pay for entrance; children were free of charge (with accompanying adult).

In speaking with our General Manager and Food and Beverage Manager, here's where we will improve in the future. We ran out of party favors - poor planning on our part, we will have plenty for everyone next year. In hind sight we should have started the "after party" at 10:30pm to allow our staff time to clear the tables that had been vacated, of all dirty dishes, food, etc.

Again, this was our first year and in general very successful. We will be reevaluating the "after party" options for next year, and hope to improve the overall experience for everyone, whether you are attending the full celebration or the after party. We hope you will give us another chance to show you that we appreciate your feedback, and have addressed your concerns.
