After staying at a few other "Grand Summit" slope-side hotels I thought I knew what to expect. But the Mount Snow Grand Summit is older and more like basic ski accommodations. The restaurant in the restaurant is passable, but stick to the burgers. This is a solid basic ski accommodation. The walls are paper thin - so expect to be annoyed if you are an early sleeper (like we are - we are here to ski - not to party).
The location is great, the staff is great, but dont expect luxury. If you know the Kaaatskill Mountain hotel at Hunter Mountain...this is no where near the luxury of that.
The paper thin walls and floors were a minor annoyance...but the major reason why I would give this place 2 starts instead of three is something that sounds really stupid...but soooooooo annoying. Ski accommodations need hooks. A two person room should have at least 6 hooks and a four person room should have 12 hooks. Ski gear hangs on hooks. That is the way it works. ALL SKI HOTELS MUST HAVE HOOKS...Unfortunately the Mt Snow Summit Grand Hotel has no hooks in the rooms...a major annoyance...I know it sounds petty. But the fact that they don't have hooks shows that they just don't get it..they don't understand how skiers live. I am sure all the real skiers can relate..hooks are all we need in a room.
