When we booked this place, we were a bit wary due to the lack of info on the web. They don't seem to have an official website and apart from a few very old/blurry photos on Redweek.com - we found nothing. But upon arriving, we were pleasantly surprised! What a real gem of a place - tucked into a quiet and beautiful area. At check-in, the woman on duty at the front desk in the clubhouse was so friendly, kind and helpful. Their very cozy clubhouse has everything you need as far as brochures for local attractions and area ski resorts. They also sell discounted lift tickets for the nearby Sugarbush Resort. The best part being, you can return these for a full refund if at the end of your stay, you haven't used them! (Which we had to do since we ended up going skiing one less day than planned and there were no problems with getting a refund!) Not to mention, when checking out - a different woman was on duty but she was just as helpful and kind. There's also a racquetball court and a simple game room with pool table, table tennis and a few video games.
The house itself was fantastic! Made of beautiful log brought over piece by piece from Sweden - the place is very spacious, 2 floors with a Master Bedroom, 2 guest rooms and a large sofabed. We had 8 people in all and were all very comfortable sleeping wherever. The house is heated just fine and there's a fireplace to cozy up to - the living room was just perfect for lounging around and watching tv. The kitchen was fully equipped with all pots/pans, dishes, cutlery, a dishwasher, oven, microwave etc .. a dining table that seats 8 as well as a very spacious breakfast bar accomodated everyone at mealtime with no problems.
Naturally, the washer/dryer came in handy after a long and wet day on the slopes. Each house also comes with a garage so we were able to store all our ski gear without lugging it in and out of the house.
2 full bathrooms - the one upstairs leads to a dry sauna - my personal favorite amenity! Well maintained, very clean and very hot - it was such a treat to have that in the house as opposed to public in the clubhouse.
There is also a large balcony/deck in the back accessible through the living room - which of course, we didn't utlize since it was freezing winter but I did see a small grill and some charcoal there - for those who want to do some grilling.
The other reviewer here complained that this was in the middle of nowhere - and that there was no internet access. Sure, there isn't any wi-fi or high speed and yes, it is Vermont and it is nestled by the mountains and after all, we were on vacation - trying to get away from it all! But not to worry as it isn't in the middle of nowhere - there are take-out deliveries available, a small shopping plaza with mini-mart and a few eateries right nearby. A short drive will take you to neighboring towns that have more restaurants, a post office, and various shopping. An hour away is beautiful downtown Burlington by Lake Champlain. Other nearby attractions - Vermont Teddy Bear Co, Cabot Cheese, Ben and Jerry Factory, Lake Champlain Chocolotaes etc ...
All in all, a great getaway!
