Our stay at Weathertop Mountain Inn was simply wonderful. My wife, two grown children and myself were received with courtesy and warmth upon arrival by Mike and Lisa (the managers/owners). Fortunately, the snow arrived in the area at the same time we did, as this was planned as a ski holiday. The facility's location, about half a mile from German Flats Road (the access road to Mts. Ellen & Lincoln), allowed for a relaxed morning of a wholesome breakfast at the Inn, followed by virtually no travel time to the ski lifts.
The absence of T.V.'s in the rooms was a welcome change as problems always seem to arise from noisy T.V.'s late at night in adjoining rooms when you're trying to sleep. However, two fully equipped T.V.s/entertainment centers are provided - one in the common room; the other in the rec room in the spacious loft. Both areas are very clean, comfortable, and equipped with fire places, along with a wide selection of books to be found in the loft.
The in-house dinner menu is sufficiently varied and selections prepared so well that, I personally would have been content to eat in most of the time. But the facility's relatively central locale tends to draw one's sense of dining adventure to any of several wonderfully varied bills of fare in the area. Great coffee and an extensive selection of wines is available almost any time in-house upon request. Mike is something of a wine connoisseur and turned both my wife and I onto some very nice wines.
Other amenities include jacouzi, two-person sauna, wi-fi access, and pool table.
We found Weathertop Mountain Inn to be clean, laid back and nicely located for the area's amenities - a great value and experience that we shall make every effort to repeat.
