“Stunning lakeside location”

We had a lovely stay here. The breakfasts are the best we have ever had in America, there is something for everyone, delicious. We also had the best steak we have ever had in USA too (something of a food theme going here!) The rooms are mainly individual cottages and we stayed in one with a log fire, which we lit and looked lovely and romantic until it smoked us out! One of the evening meals was a little disappointing, but as the rest more than made up, we will let them off for that. The resort is spread out and they have little taxis or minibuses to run you around in, which wasn't required in the daylight, but worth using in the evening because of the lighting. The restaurant overlooks the lake and this is a stunning setting.

“Family vacation at the Lake”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

This is an annual three generation family vacation for us. It's a parents dream for kids who live outside in the water, on bikes, at the day camp..... It's all about the Lake and the quiet and the food. Many different types of lodging, from rooms in the main original building to little cottages dotted around the grounds to houses which were once privately owned.

Three restaurants to choose from formal to casual and some dinners on the beach. Excellent buffet meals. They have teamed up with the magazine "Eating Well" which is published in Vermont just down the road.
We go at either end of the season rather than spend a whole week which is what the "social season" calls for. Families sign up at the end of one season to reserve their place for next year. This is vacation as it used to be 50+ years ago.

“Peaceful & Relaxing Haven”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

Loved this place! Our cottage overlooked the lake and the wedding arch and for 3 nights we relaxed and re-charged our batteries in the sanctuary of the beautiful surroundings, so much so that my husband actually struggled to sleep on the first night because it was SO quiet! The rooms do not have televisions and rightly so; this place is all about getting away from it all (but there are television lounges, a computer for guest use and free wifi throughout if required). On our first night we ate in the main dining room but chose the Red Mill restaurant for the rest of the stay and much preferred it - better value for money, nicer food and a better atmosphere. The only problem was that the road from our cottage to the restaurant was unlit and in complete darkness - it was lucky that we had a torch with us as we would have struggled without it (and we are in our twenties; older guests may prefer to call reception and make use of the complimentary shuttle service). We would happily stay here again.

“Average at best”

Purchased voucher from Travel Zoo for two nights stay, 5 course dinner, breakfast buffet, and complimentary boat ride on Lake Champlain, my wife and I travelled from Ontario, Canada. The Harbor Club was unique and quit a ways drive off the beaten path. The studio cottage was dated with upgrades (had that old cottage smell) but view was very nice. Nocturnal wildlife within the cottage prevented a peaceful sleep. The food and service was good. Pricey getaway with service charges, even with a voucher.
• Stayed as a couple in closing week October 2011

Room Tip: • I was informed there are no TV’s in any cottages or rooms

“Wonderful lakeside oasis!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

My husband and I stayed at the Basin Harbor Club just days ofter they opened for the season. Before we even arrived I was impressed by their customer communication. After booking they sent two emails the first was to survey us to find out if there were any special touches we need like extra pillow etc and the second email was to let us know that they had a lot of flooding and that they had detours. It was very nice of them to communicate to us detour routes. While we were there they were still opening up many of their facilities, but we still found plenty to do. We tried Kayaking for the first time. We loved sitting on our porch and listen to the water lap the shore and at night since it was early May we still were able to light a fire in the fireplace in the living room of our cottage and watch the sunset and the lake. The cottage, White Caps and beautiful, roomy and it was very clean. It was wonderful to be able to park right next to the cottage. The grounds are very spread out so we ended up driving back and forth most of the time. Their restaurant in the main lodge for breakfast was wonderful (the sausage and bacon from the Durkin Farm is to die for, we actually went to their farm market and bought some to take home yum!!) and we got lunch from their pub restaurant, a little on the pricer side for sandwiches but they were delicious. My BLT had basil on it, it made a simple sandwich very good. We loved the colored chairs, I took many pictures of them and the large red chair by their Golf Pro Shop we so much fun. All of their staff were friendly and very helpful. My husband and I would love to return and spend some more relaxing time enjoying the lake and their beautiful property.

Room Tip: Ask for a cottage on the Lake.
