“Long Trail House. Great location. Outdoor hot tubs and pool.”

This review is primarily for the Long Trail House, which tripadvisor should really break out into it's own lodging, but I'll add a little bit about the resort itself since they didn't.

We love Stratton. For the gondola because we are klutzes getting off the lift on our snowboards. For the mountain - the trails and the great snowmaking (essential with this ridiculous weather). For the village and its restaurants - although it's often like a ghost town on weekedays and they should have more stuff open in the day. You won't need to drive anywhere unless you want to. For the apres fun. For being accomodating - it rained one day so we had to cancel lessons, and they were nice enough to transfer the money to a gift card rather than shafting us. And for the lodging reviewed below - Long Trail House.

We've stayed here twice and loved it both times because it is right across the street from the village and has 2 outdoor hot tubs and a heated a pool. The rooms have a full kitchen and gas fireplace. I assumed that this was like a hotel and you couldn't pick a specific room, but maybe you can request your preference and get exactly what you want.

Feb 2011 we stayed in a first floor studio with a murphy bed and no view. This room was fine for us despite the lack of view and the bed was comfortable. There was a wine and beer bottle collection on top of the cabinets that we added to for our amusement. Each room has it's own character because some (if not all) are owned by different individuals.

Jan 2012 we stayed in a second floor one bedroom with pull out couch and 2 balconies overlooking the pool and the mountain. This room was sweet. Spacious and the king bed was comfy. The pull out couch bed sunk a bit, but at least it didn't have an annoying bar going across that jabs you in the back so it was fine for our child.

Both times the concierge was very friendly and helpful. There is also a room with fireplace that seems to be lit on and off - no one ever seems to hang out there. The sauna is a nice perk too.

“Great village, some serious cons though”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

The village is very nice. Random fire, free hot chocolate handed out around 3:30pm, when you're wrapping up. People handing out tissues in extremely cold weather for runny noses. They really seem to go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Village is overpriced but that's not really news.

The slopes are fairly standard, Not too challenging if you're a pro. I was surprised some of the blacks weren't challenging at all. It just wasn't acceptable. I've done blues that were harder, and I'm no pro.

The biggest con though was the television. We had a two story, two bedroom unit. It wasn't great but we weren't expecting luxury. FIreplace was great. But the TV was unbelievable. From the 80's. We watched the crucial Giants/Packers game on 14 inch cathode tube, with barely any volume. The girls could barely watch The Golden Globes. It was shocking that such a resort would still offer this sort of entertainment. I couldn't stop thinking about it for days.

Room Tip: Bring your own wine. The local prices are unheard of. I expect to be ripped off but not that much.

“We Love Stratton”

For the 4th year my family of 5 spent a few days skiing at our favorite mountain. We always stay at the Long Trail house condos. Directly accross the street from the mountian. They have an outdoor heated pool that my kids love. The swim in the steam while they are surrounded by snow. The rooms are big andvery nice. The mountain is plently big and always in great condition. Every Christmas the kids start asking when we are going to Stratton.

“Best on the East Coast”

Stratton Mountain is a terrific family resort. We have been going here for 12 years and it is always consistent. Winter: Ski school is well run as is the resort. Amazingly clean and well taken care of. Grooming is done every day and web site/phone lines are updated with conditions. It can get crowded though. Summer: Golf course is beautiful and the tennis school is unmatched! The Cliff Drysdale management there has done a terrific job. This is a polished resort.

“Good Price for an overnight Stay”

I enjoyed my stay as I thought I was staying in a cabin, so I was pleasantly surprised to have a full kitchen and 2 bedrooms. It was old, but to be expected.
Overall, it was a great weekend, I would stay there again for a night or 2.
Definitely not luxury, but hot water, beds, and a full kitchen for the family.

Side note - there were hot tubs outside beside the snow...they were empty :)
