“Great weekend getaway”

We chose Green Mountain Inn for a weekend getaway and the setup and location were perfect. It's located in walking distance to many shops, and next to the Mountain Road to head towards the ski resort if you chose. My boyfriend and I are avid skiers and originally intended to come up and ski Stowe, but wanted to splurge on a room upgrade and weekend getaway. We ended up choosing not to ski last minute, but had no problem entertaining ourselves for 2 nights and 2 days. There are plenty of shops to check out during the day, apres ski options, as well as live music, all of which were easy to get out and have a good time for happy hour, or a night out. Great area for us in our mid-20's, and locals listed off their favorite bars, and it seemed like there was something for everyone. Green Mountain Inn's venue is perfectly maintained, and our luxury suite had plenty of space, felt very clean and homey, the perfect escape. They have a restaurant/bar on sight which we didn't have time to check out but it looked inviting as well.

We also experienced their new Massage Center right at the Inn, and my masseuse, Echo, was fantastic. I got a standard 60 minute relaxation massage, and it was really well-priced, especially for a resort, and one of the best I've experienced.

I would absolutely return here for on next visit to Stowe.

“Lovely hotel and village”

We booked the Green Mountain Inn as part of a Virgin Holidays package, and it was a great choice.
It was about a 3.5 to 4 hr drive from Boston, and very easy to find on Main St in Stowe. We had a Classic room in the Depot building, which is connected to the main Inn internally - as some people have said, many room require a trip outside, it's a big, sprawling property. The Inn and the Depot are numbers 13 and 14 on the US Historic Buildings Register. The room was very comfortable, with a four poster bed, and modern bathroom, the shower had a water saving head. Our friends were upgraded to a deluxe room, which had lounge area, but I actually preferred our room, they only had a normal bed! We had free wifi through-out, and I'd definitely recommend at least one visit to the outdoor, heated pool.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful, particularly Tyler on reception, who made several dinner reservations for us, Derrick at breakfast, and the charming Paul, who made the evening drinks reception a lot of fun. The hotel offers complimentary hot drinks and cookies between 4 and 5, and a couple of times a week offers local beer, cider and wine, with snacks, between 5.30 and 6.30- they lay the tables with board games too, good fun.
The hotel has an excellent buffet breakfast (US$8.95/$12.95) with freshly baked goodies daily, and a range of cooked options, and a bar and restaurant in the basement, The Whip, which is good for a light meal. There are several excellent restaurants in Stowe within a short walk, it is worth eating out while you're there.
We went to ski, and the hotel is a 10 minute drive from the slopes. They have arranged a discount with several of the local shops and outfitters for their guests, so check that out before you rent anywhere. The base lodges had reasonably priced food and drinks, and free wifi, and Spruce lodge has free lockers for your kit too. The slopes were very quiet, the only queues were on Saturday, and even then, only 5-10 minutes at most.
We had a great holiday, the Inn and the village of Stowe are lovely, and we were really well looked after- we're already planning our next trip.

Went to Stowe over the Christmas holiday, and had a wonderful time! The hotel was in a prime location on Main Street and an easy drive to the ski resort. The staff was very friendly and accomodating and the food was delicious!

Room Tip: We were a bit concerned to have a room that opened directly to the outside because of the below free...

“Nice High-End Hotel”

We were in one of the luxury rooms with a fireplace and hot tub. The room was great, spacious, hot tub and fireplace were really nice for the romantic get-away ski weekend. Bathroom was very nice as well. Price was a little on the high side but it was a very nice hotel. Location was good, we drove to Jay Peak and Smuggs 1 day each (other 2 days at Stowe) to mix it up a bit and the drives were doable if a bit long.

The hotel restaurant was very tasty as well, we had an excellent meal there.

“Excellent Stay at a Great Hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

We booked this stay through Jetsetter for a great deal of $150 a night. For this price, the hotel was great! It was incredibly clean, had a great section for your skis and boots and was comfy and cozy, everything you could ask for in a mountain town hotel. We had the classic room that had a balcony that faced the pool. It was a little loud on the weekends, with screaming children and what not but overall was pretty quiet for the most part.

The facilities of the pool and jacuzzi were fantastic and unexpected. They also had a really nice and clean fitness center as well as game room where you could play pool, air hockey, and some video games. The location was great to everything in the heart of Stowe with ample parking. From our hotel we liked to go to "Jamie's on Main" for breakfast before skiing as they had extremely good egg sandwiches and pastries for a good price. It was nice that it was within walking distance. Another great restaurant "Blue Moon Cafe" was within walking distance and unbelievable for dinner. The only thing I would say is do not go to the connecting restaurant to the hotel, "The Whip Bar and Grill" unless you want drinks only. The food is terrible and overpriced.

The bed was comfortable after a day of skiing and the shower had excellent water pressure with an abundance of hot water which was a plus. The best part of the trip was the hospitality. We got a flat tire during our stay as a rock penetrated the tire on our last day during checkout. The hotel was more than helpful in finding us a place to tow the car, a place to store our luggage until we could repair the tire, and gave us late checkout so we didn't have to stand outside in the cold. They even let us have a key to the jacuzzi/weight room so that we could sit down or use the restroom if need-be. Their generosity was really surprising and fantastic.

All in all, great location, great hospitality, great stay. A must if you are on a budget in Stowe!
