We spent 3 nights at this Inn in Stowe, and were very pleased with it. They had a very good deal whereby you got 2 nights for the price of 3 if it included a Tuesday - great if travelling in the fall foliage season. The owners also have a lodge (motel) virtually next door, but we stayed in the Inn, which was much better, and handier for breakfast in the morning. The room was large, with a big, comfy double bed, lovely ensuite, and plenty of tables and chairs. Room and house in general full of bears of all shapes and sizes, plus things to do with honey. (Inn name-Honeywood)
Most impressive were the breakfasts. First of all , tables seated 8, and everyone sat together, so if you want a snapshot of the US, this was the way to do it, as there were guests from all over the country. (but none from outwith the US in the time we were there.) Apart from the usual juice, cereals, fruit, there was always a choice of 4 cooked dishes, including such delights as waffles, pancakes, omelettes, French toast, eggs in all forms, etc. Portions sizes were enormous, and quality and variety was excellent. We never needed to eat again till about 3pm ! they were also quite willing to cater for special dietary requirements. We found we sat much longer than usual, as conversations were always very interesting.
The inn is located 4 miles up Mountain Road. Stowe village itself is some way away, but Stowe is a ski resort in the winter, so Mountain Road is full of eateries, hotels, shops etc. However, you really need a car at this time of year - the free shuttle bus only runs in the winter.
Bill the owner is very friendly and helpful, with lots of advice about where to go and what to see.
Missed the hot-tub others mentioned !
